  1. Oh yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous and totally unacceptable. I'd always heaaaard bad things but never did I imagine it'd be this bad
  2. I contacted the School of Nursing at uOttawa directly, they told me there are NO classes for accelerated nursing starting in May "for certain" because of the pandemic. The admissions officer told me that they've already given out all the acceptances and only if people refuse will they move on those on the waiting list. I had called admissions first and they were not helpful and giving me conflicting information, so I contacted the faculty itself and had the admissions officer message me directly to clarify the May start.
  3. For anybody who applied to uOttawa second entry nursing, read this!!! I called them to find out what was going on and after numerous emails/phone calls to various people, I found out that despite NOT updating their website whatsoever, they've changed their second-entry nursing program completely. I was told this from the faculty of health sciences: I can say for sure that there will be no courses offered in May for any second entry nursing students. This modified program integrates students into the regular program, so for example, students would take the second year intro to nursing science in the fall along with pathophysiology, then the second year Intro to nursing practice along with pharmacology in the Winter and then integrate into the 3rd year regular program the following year. So, the same number of credits for the second entry program is spread through a 3 year period. So.... when we applied we were told it was a TWO year program that started in May. I have been stressing, rushing to finish my ANP course by their April 15 deadline, to only be told after reaching out to them that the prerequisites only need to be done by AUGUST 15. Again, this is not updated on the uOttawa website anywhere. What a shitshow. Also, they've already sent out their max number of acceptance offers. If you're on the waiting list (like me), you'll hear by April 1 (apparently) whether or not there's a spot for you (if those who've been accepted declined, or if you're refused). I'm extremely disappointed by their lack of communication. I was told conflicting information from various faculty ALL DAY LONG. Anyways, rant over.
  4. Lemme know when you hear a response and I will do the same! This wait is brutal.
  5. I wonder if that just meant so far?? If not, I would hope they'd send out rejections or something.
  6. What do you mean by "they only accepted 5-8 people this year"? Like for the upcoming program starting May 2021, only 5-8 people will be in it? I was under the impression that acceptances weren't even given out yet until mid-March which really only is today?
  7. When do you need to have the prereq done? I'm doing the anatomy course through AU right now and it is very, very time consuming. 3 exams, 3 assignments, 3 quizzes, 29 chapters to read. You do already have the knowledge around anatomy so it shouldn't be as hard as it is for me, but I am attempting to finish this year-long course in 3.5 months to have my mark by April 15th (for uOttawa) and it is verrrrrry challenging to get everything in so quickly.
  8. What are some skills you've learned to cope with this?
  9. Really hoping someone can answer this question for me, since (as we all probably know) the admissions teams right now are taking forever to respond to emails (and don't even take phone calls...) at least that's my experience with uOttawa. This question is about calculating CGPA for admissions purposes. I noticed that my grade for a class I took at Athabasca University was a B. However, their scale considers a mark between 75-79 as a B. I noticed that uOttawa considers a mark between 75-79 a B+. In this situation, would uOttawa consider my grade to be a B+ since that's what their scale is, or would it be calculated as a B? The B and B+ have different grade points (used to calculate GPAs) and I am thinking this could really affect my CGPA. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks in advance ?
  10. Still says waiting list for me too. Their website says: We evaluate applications in February. You can expect a response around mid-March. So I think we still have a while to go!
  11. Honestly I'm finding in this course with AU (it's the second one I've taken with them) my tutor is not particularly helpful ? . It took two weeks for her to answer my question. I had originally asked it via email, then when a week went by I followed up, she then told me I needed to ask the question "through FST SSC", which I then did, and finally got a response to THAT a week later. I always emailed my tutor in the previous course so I had no idea that I needed to go through this other forum to ask questions. So something to be aware of! My previous tutor also gave us a bunch of review sheets and advice. I feel like each one is different and sometimes you get better ones. Same here. Not expecting to get in given the email we got a few days ago saying there were over 800 applicants LOL
  12. Oh yes it's VERY dry, but I like that AU clearly lays out what you need to know. Otherwise I would have no idea which parts to focus on. Yes I have my first midterm booked! Please let me know if your status does change - I too am monitoring it every day haha
  13. Starting the readings beforehand is a great idea. I wish I had done that actually! I started Jan 1 and have organized my time to do 2-3 chapters a week. I work part-time so this is definitely doable for me. It's honestly not so bad! I go through the readings with the study guide open on my computer (let me know if you need help finding this it's an absolute life saver) and fill it out the "Keywords and Topics" as I read through. I do not read anything that isn't on the study guide. When I'm done that, I do that chapter's quiz on the Wiley-Orion website. I'm going to make cue cards that answer each of the "Objectives" listed on the study guide. I hope this is helpful ? I've read countless things online that say using the study guides is the best way to go!
  14. I'm taking this course right now! Just to let you know, most schools need the final grade by end of April. I'm not sure where you applied but uOttawa specifically needs it by April 15 if you're applying to their second entry nursing for May 2021. Just a heads up!
  15. You are right! they only look at undergrad. thanks for your response
