Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Does anyone know what the western compressed program is like? Or if anyone is currently in it what are the pros/cons? I was just wondering cause they finish their program in only 18 months compared to trent is 28 months

I've heard it's much harder. They have less placement areas for clinicals compared to UofT and Mac, not sure about Trent. But Trent gives more clinical hours since the program is longer!

I hear Nipissing says they're going to accept later in April. I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Good luck to all ?

No, accepting one offer doesn't affect your other offers.

That's what they say, but when I accepted my offer, Nipissing immediately updated my status to "No decision/accepted elsewhere"...

Hello all! If I accept my uoft offer will McMaster and western no longer consider my application?

Yes . Once you accept an offer . The other colleges/universities are automatically updated with the information that you have accepted an offer elsewhere.

which in that case clearly I don’t see another school wanting to extend an offer to you when they see you already accepted elswehere

This isn’t true. I accepted my Queen’s offer and still got an offer from Western a whole month after.

I get that they automatically update that through OUAC, but I don’t think it’s a fair statement to say you clearly don’t see other schools wanting to extend offers if someone has already accepted elsewhere. A lot of students are accepting offers because many of the offers expire after 2 weeks. Therefore to get past this issue all schools need to offer acceptances at the same time or all schools need to not regard if students have accepted offers elsewhere.

I wouldn’t worry too much as I can’t see accepting an offer elsewhere impacting any other applications you have standing.

When you accept an offer it DOES NOT impact your acceptances to other universities. I was given an offer from York in February, which I accepted. I then received an offer from Western in early April, which I then accepted, then received an offer from Trent, and then an offer from UofT. Considering I accepted 3 offers total, schools do not care if you accept elsewhere because they know we are given 2 to 3 weeks to respond. Hope this clears things up! ?

That’s good to know: I know it said on my account that once I accepted an offer it would be communicated to my other applications . So I am surprised that after accepting the other schools would still extend an offer .

thanks I just learnt that now

I am awaiting an update on my application to U of Toronto BSN program right now, for those of you who have been accepted for Fall 2021 start what were your stats? How early did you submit your application?

Thank you!! And congratulations! :)

Hi everyone! I had a question regarding different programs and was hoping this thread might be helpful in answering it!

I've recently been accepted to UofT and am waiting to hear back from McMaster and UBC. Before I make any decisions, I wanted to learn a little bit more about placements and opportunities within these programs. I'm incredibly interested in rural healthcare, and I am hoping to work in remote/under-serviced communities following school. Given this, I am wondering what the opportunities were like between these 3 schools for working/completing placements in rural communities? I hope this question makes sense, and thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with!

Thanks again!
