Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I am awaiting an update on my application to U of Toronto BSN program right now, for those of you who have been accepted for Fall 2021 start what were your stats? How early did you submit your application?

Thank you!! And congratulations! ?

Hi! I was accepted last week. My two year GPA was a 3.95, but my cGPA was 3.75. My ECs were reasearch (no publication), cardiac rehab volunteer, public health volunteer, and science tutor. I believe my application was submitted by November. Good luck to you ?

Hey! Wow that’s an amazing GPA!! Doesn’t UofT only look at your final year GPA though and not the final 2 years?

Hey guys, how do I accept my offer?

It's on both OUAC and the western website. Where do I accept it? And is there a deposit we have to pay?

Hey guys, I just got an email from York saying my human anatomy course isn't eligible for admission, I'm thinking of enrolling into athabasca's BIOL 235, but the course starts on June 1st. Does anyone have experience taking this course? How long does the course last? Would York wait for my mark to come back?

Hey I just enrolled in that course, and you have access to the assignments to start doing them and will know what the readings are that you should be doing. You have access of the course material but just are unable to submit any assignments, or write any exams/quizzes. If you do enrol I would recommend booking your exams so you know when and how to pace yourself throughout so you don't fall behind.

Talk to the York admissions team and see what they say about their deadlines for the course grade. It's a big commitment and you will have to defiantly prioritize it, but having some prior background knowledge on A&P could help a lot.

Thanks for your help. What do you mean by you can't submit your assignments? Do you have to book a date to submit that too? I believe I'd also have to update all the uni's I've applied to with this course as well since they require us to submit transcripts from all universities we've attended

You are not able to submit assignments early, but you can start working on them. For me I am doing them now and then submitting them all on June 1st when the course allows for submissions. This gives enough days to mark it and have it ready for a transcript (at least for me). Quizzes you do not have to book as they are not proctored and you can write it any time after June 1st. Exams you need to book as you need to pay for a proctor through ProctorU I believe. This allows you to ensure there is someone available to proctor you which is why you have to book it at least 20 days in advance although I booked mine in from now so I wouldn’t fall behind. I personally will only be updating UofT as it’s the only school which requires this course and it’s in my conditional offer as well. You should try talking to York and see if it would be possible for you to receive a conditional offer if you take the course and if it’s possible that the offer will come sooner than later. This will allow you to determine if it’s worth it for you to try and finish the course in the short time frame.

Hey all!

I have a question, I didn't/couldn't perform well in my stats because of personal reasons, can I take one of the course from Athabasca and update the information on OUAC portal? or would that affect my application? sorry I am really confused? need some suggestion? ?

Thank you!! This was helpful.

For the Humber 2nd entry program I got an email with the courses that I have to take for the prep semester but in the email it says I don't have to take psychology however in my undergrad I never took psychology. Did this happen to anyone else? Should I email them to see if it was a mistake since I didn't take another course that I think would count as a psychology course.

I've completed 0.5 credits of the 1.0 physiology requirement for Western. They've let me know that I can complete the remaining credit in the Spring/Summer. However I'm having trouble finding an online course offering that offers only the second portion (Physiology 2) and not the entire course (Physiology 1 + 2) since that's really expensive. Does anyone have any recommendations?

How long after you checked your portal and saw you got accepted did you get an email?
