Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

as an internal UofT candidate should I upload my final grade for a course just in case even though they already have access to it? has any other internal candidate done this?

you don't need to do anything. If any you can post up the unofficial record on join portal but nothing else to do really.

Did anyone on the waitlist for Humber recently get off??Or has anyone declined there humber offer?

Hey guys I got my offer at Western today so I'm no longer on the waitlist! I'm confused between choosing between this and York as I think York will be completely online while at Western labs will still resume. IDK if its worth going. Either way, a spot will open up at one of these for those on waitlist!

It is not confirmed yet if York will be completely online as I heard labs/clinicals will be in person with appropriate PPE.

I am on Humber waitlist as well, haven’t heard anything. Please if you don’t mind when did you apply?

Has anyone who hasn't stayed in Ontario for 12months stretch gotten OSAP before. I have only stayed 6months

OK I'm freaking out, I calculated my average wrong, turns out I'm at 78%, I thought I was 83%. Is there any hope for Western?

Good luck to everyone applying this year!

I am not applying this year, but was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Does U of T accept repeated courses? I had to repeat stats, and wanted to know if my application would even be considered with a repeated course.

Any info on this would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi, I believe they do! Depending on your situation, it may have been a good idea to explain why you had to retake it in your personal statement. However, even if you didn't I'm sure it's no big deal. I did ask the Admissions Committee and was told that they only really make sure the prerequisites are above 60, so it shouldn't be a problem really. Other than that, the focus is on the last 5.0 FCEs.

Good luck! :)

Just got a call from Western saying I'm off the waitlist and got in! Good luck to everyone still waiting to get off the waitlist! Don't lose hope!

they do take repeated course. my friend had to retake stat as well and got in this year. It's just that the mark for second attempt will not be included as it is indicated as extra course. as long as you get the satisfactory grade for prerequisite purpose, youre good.

are you sure you're calculating your GPA correctly? This is what I did to calculate mine - in a spreadsheet convert the last 10 full course equivalents on your transcript (including graduate courses! they told me they use them in the GPA calculation) to 4.0 GPA scale using the OMSAS scale (it's the scale used for med schools). Maybe you could call or email Western and ask what their cut-off was last year?
