Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

How do you guys feel about online classes and academic disruption? It looks like there is a high chance of not having clinical at least for the fall term, and it really sucks cause I don’t want to defer my acceptance or have a compromised clinical schedule ?

Congratulations! what was your GPA?? I'm still anxiously waiting for a response from trent :')

Hey! I think we've chatted before, you're an internal applicant correct? My average was an 81% for my last 10.0 credits!

CONGRATS! Are you finished all of your prerequisites or was it a conditional offer?

I know its frustrating due to the uncertainty, but I'm pretty hopeful that things will begin somewhat normally in the Fall. On the Covid FAQ page for Bloomberg it just states that clinical is paused for the current year until July 6th. I'm assuming they will be able to re-evaluate at this point, and given that the reason for canceling clinical is due to the preceptors/instructors being directly engaged with the increased patient load, I think clinical will resume once our cases decline and the province starts to re-open.

I totally get being worried about losing the clinical time, especially since we're in a compressed program ?

I also don't think deferring an acceptance for UofT is very straightforward, it says they will review deferrals on a case-by-case basis (so it isn't guaranteed that you can defer, even if you wanted to) but that they don't expect any change to the program start date.

Crossing my fingers everything will work out as planned!

Hey everyone!

CONGRATS to everyone who has gotten accepted, this is such an exciting time! And for those waiting on acceptances - do not lose hope, you are all competent soon-to-be nurses and any university would be lucky to have you.

For those who have accepted their offers to U of T, are you applying for any scholarships? If so, which ones are available to us as newcomers? I'm looking at the in-course scholarships for the faculty of Nursing but the deadline is May 22nd and requires a student ID number, which I don't think have been issued yet (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!). Or alternatively, has anyone found some external scholarships? Sort of stressin about the expenses now that it's a real thing LOL

Hi there! I'm currently a second-year U of T student. The in-course scholarships are for students currently in first year and are awarded at the beginning of Year 2. If you Google Bloomberg Nursing Admission Awards it should pull up the page for the admitting class awards, however I think the application for those ones was due with your original application in February ?

Hope this helps!

Anyone on waitlist heard back from Humber recently?

Hey does anyone know if there is a facebook group for Trents Compressed program for 2020-2022

Hello!

I'm wondering the same thing! Should we make one?

Anyone hear back on the Queen's waitlist?

I got accepted at another university but really want Queen's. If I accept the other offer does it mean I am automatically taken off the Queen's waitlist?

Very grateful if anyone can let me know.

For people still waiting, hang in there. I know offers will keep coming. It's not over yet.

For those who got accepted to McMaster, how do you send official final transcript stating degree granted if applicable?

When does a transcript state the degree was granted?
