Hello Everyone,
I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

I believe so - there should be a PDF letter of acceptance on your join.utoronto account, and it says to do so. The OUAC offer shows up around 5 business days after your join.utoronto offer.

On the portal I can't see anything because they get the transcripts themselves but how will I know when they've checked my winter grades yet?
Hi! I think you could just call and ask if they have received it! It didn't update for me either (i was internal applicant). However, for sure they do the process for you :)

She said she's heard PBL will be helpful in the end but is very dependent on your tutor. She loves her faculty, and the students are all supportive/helpful. She's been getting good grades and plan on going the NP route (I asked about grades because I want to keep that option as well). She's only in her first year (second term) but a friend that is graduating feels competent enough to be a nurse (where as UofT, my friend doesn't feel competent enough rn but still has 'consolidation' aka following a nurse around for 6-8 weeks? in which she feels she will be comptent thereafter, by graduation). First year there are assignments and exams, but the last year is mosly just placements and PBL (I assume tutorials?). I also asked if there was something she wished someone would have told her about nursing/the program, what would it be and her response to that question (i think, as I had listed a bunch of questions and she answered them all in one go) is that she struggles with the online modules that they do, and wish patho was done in class rather than online. I also asked why McMaster, and she lives in waterloo (closer proximity than other schools) and have always regarded the program highly and was her first choice to begin with. I also asked about tuition - seems to be the cheaper option of all the programs I've applied to. She said first and second terms were roughly just above 3k (each) and summer is just above 2k. However, it's not cheaper by much!
The last bit about online modules has me extremely worried as I've done online courses and they're not fun! So much harder IMO because at least with classes, I'm scheduled to be at the same place at the same time whereas online modules, I need to create that schedule. I'm not a bad organizer but when it comes to classes I highly prefer to have a set, concrete schedule (and to be listening to someone speak/teach in person over watching on the computer). However, it may work out for others so it's really up to your own preferences.
Hope this helps! I think I've decided to accept UofT's offer and letting my McMaster offer expire tomorrow, so there will be a spot for someone else! Still waiting on UBC to send out emails which may take another three weeks or so..
I really enjoyed PBL! I graduated from Mac (RPN to BScN stream although we all end up at the same place eventually) so if anyone has PBL specific questions I would be happy to answer them.

The lady I spoke with also told me that the average calculation was for the last year only (with consideration that the prerequisite marks meet the requirements). Are you concerned that the NCR mark will be included in the average? Because based on the criterion listed on the site as well, because it isn't in the final year, it should not be included.
Did you tell the registrar lady this course was completed two years ago?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I'm kinda worry it may be included. The lady mentioned they will look at your last year, including your previous undergrad years to get a feel of the student academic stance.

Hmm, I didn't know they did that but I am wishing you the best!
Got an offer from Western today around 3pm (6pm eastern). I’ll be keeping my uoft offer so another spot will open up at western, but i’m still waiting on ubc as well. The stress has been real but finally starting to relax a little haha. To those still waiting, acceptances can go out until the end of summer i think, end of june at least! Good luck ?
