Hello Everyone,
I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

I got an acceptance from York about 3 weeks ago for the second entry nursing program. I got accepted into U of T's Bloomberg nursing today, which is my first choice so I'm going to accept that. My GPA is about 3.3 and I have volunteer experience at Sick Kids Hospital, I have two research publications and work as a research associate at Toronto General. I haven't heard anything from Western yet and was waitlisted at Humber. Hope everyone hears back soon!
CONGRATS!!
Hi everyone,
just wondering if there's any previous or current Yorku students that applied to Uoft and happens to have an NCR notation for a course?
I spoke to the register office at Uoft, and the woman I spoke to, made me understand that the way NCR notation is noted on UofT transcript is a bit different from YorkU. Apparently if you attend UofT and receive an NCR notation for a course the grade does not appear next to it. But with YorkU there will be an NCR notation and the grade you received. I asked the woman will the grade be counted towards my gpa calculation, and she said "if they can see it, it will", even though the course is designed as NCR.
Just wondering does anyone seem to know more about this or experience such thing, cause the woman I spoke to seem quite confuse.
Thanks!!!

I think the registrar lady has the most accurate information on the grade calculation. I think we spoke to the same person and she also told me that she can see UofT CR/NCR grades. Did she clarify that by saying if the admissions committee can see the grade, that it WILL be calculated in the average?

Because the registrar lady is the closest thing we have to the admission committee, perhaps you should trust her word. Although I personally believe that CR/NCR marks shouldn't be included because of the purpose of CR/NCR is to use it to just get the credit, I do know other professional schools like pharmacy do still count it. I was in a similar situation and accepted that the CR/NCR course will be included in the final year GPA calculation. Was your NCR course this year or was it another year?
