Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Thank you!! Super excited to meet you and the rest of the class!

Congrats everyone who's gotten an acceptance!! ?

Hey! I am new to this forum but just wanted to say I received my acceptance to trent on thursday last week and still waiting for my acceptance package to arrive in the mail! I am so excited but I have also applied to western and impatiently waiting a response !!

I would prefer western as it is a shorter program but it seems the clinicals are far commutes from what I've read.. Can anyone provide more info on trent vs western?

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted and hope to see some of you in the fall! :)

Hi all,

I got an acceptance from York about 3 weeks ago for the second entry nursing program. I got accepted into U of T's Bloomberg nursing today, which is my first choice so I'm going to accept that. My GPA is about 3.3 and I have volunteer experience at Sick Kids Hospital, I have two research publications and work as a research associate at Toronto General. I haven't heard anything from Western yet and was waitlisted at Humber. Hope everyone hears back soon!

Quick question for UofT, which months do we get off as a small break in between semesters?

Hey! If you google "Bloomberg course timetable" and open the link that says "test, assignments, exams", you'll find all the breaks we have! We get one week off after each clinical rotation (so 2 rotations in first sem, one week off in between, and 3 rotations in second sem so 3 weeks off) as well as about 3 weeks off after December exams! July and August is our summer break ?
