Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Hi guys,

I had a question about those that applied to uoft, how did you calculate your GPA if you are still currently finishing your undergrad? Would you put your fall semester GPA? and would it be for 5 credits? Because I only took 3 classes in my fall semester which are all half credits.

Your fall semester + the most recent courses taken before the term to reach 5.0 credits

to supplement this: reach 5.0 or more (so you add semesters, not courses). let's say you add your 4th yr Fall, 3rd Summer, 3rd Winter and the total is 4.0 credits. Then you don't pull two 0.5 course (or one 1.0) from your 3rd Fall - you add the entire 3rd Fall even if it goes over 5.0 (e.g. ends up being 5.5).

Did anyone apply to McMaster? If so could you please let me know what they mean by "supplementary application" needed, does that just mean the prerequisite form that we have to submit before Feb 1?

It includes CASPer and I believe the prerequisite form as well.

This is a bit of a specific question, but for anyone applying to York University your help would be appreciated! In the "Supporting Documents" section of MyFile, one of the requirements is called "Course Outline." I am currently enrolled in a Microbio course with UNB, it is the only course requirement that I have not yet completed. Is the "Course Outline" required document the syllabus for my incomplete microbio course? Or is it asking for all of the course outlines for the prerequisite courses like with U of T's application? Again, thanks for your help!

I was wondering if anyone can help me answer this question. I have tried for the past 2 weeks to email and call uoft nursing and no one is responding or picking up.

my question is for the pre req courses for UOFT the social science credit, it says that 0.5 can be a psych course. Is the psych course then supposed to be a social science credit on our transcript? or it can be a science course and we can use it as long as its a psych course?

because all the psych courses at UTM are SCI credits so am I able to use those for the social science credit even if they are not social sciences credits but they are psychology courses

are they looking for specifically psychology courses that are considered social science credits? are there universities that count psychology courses are social sciences and not sciences?

thank youu

Hi, if you go on last years thread at around pages 105-106, they talk about it not being considered a social science! I'm not an UTM student, but since I remembered reading about it, I thought I would let you know!

I remember the information session in 2020 had a question that was similar to this. I don't exactly remember what the answer was - either they said they would request a syllabus for the course or honour it as either a social sci or a science course, depending on how you declared it. However, I could be wrong so take that with a grain of salt.

Ultimately my final answer to this would be that you'll have to wait for admissions to confirm that for you. Two weeks though? Yikes! I sent them an email earlier this week. I'll have to make sure any other questions I have get sent out to them soon.

could anyone who applied to York please confirm if the second entry program's OUAC code is YHK

If anyone has any insight on the humber second entry prereqs.. could you let me know if they require a 70% in both grade 12 Chemistry and biology? or is it just in one of these. I meet the requirements for Chemistry but would need to take the biology through ILC and I am not sure if they would consider me as I still have to take the course and will not finish before the equal consideration date of feb 1

Yeah, it's a minimum of 70% in grade 12 English, Biology, Chemistry, and any gr12 U math.

I believe you would just have to tell them the course is in progress and it should be fine! ?

I just submitted my supplementary applications - now it is the waiting game. I am assuming most universities will not look at Winter 2022 grades much and will be granting admissions based off the current available grades (including Fall 2021 semester and prior semesters).

My grades for my last 5.0 credits: 3.91/4.0 (7.0 credits because I took 2.0 credits in my Fall 2021 semester).

My grades for my last 10.0 credits: 3.74/4.0 (10.0 credits)

My cGPA for my degree is: 2.57/4.0.

Currently finishing 1.5 credits for Winter 2022 semester.

If you are comfortable with sharing your grades please do!

I am really hoping this semester cancels out my one previous semester which is dragging my GPA down. Did some universities explicitly say that they r not counting this Winter semester? I believe Mcmaster doesn't count the Winter grades at all but I think the schools that continuously send offers based on seats in May/June would count your Winter term? What do you guys think
