Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements. 

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

I work in an emergency room and all I see is how short staffed we are and how overworked and tired nurses are, with staff from other departments and management having to cover nurse positions. With the pandemic and the huge backlog of patients for years to come. How can they not accept students that are capable and willing and stopped only because of space. Why do they apply the same gate keeping logic to nursing to other programs like med school. 

I understand your frustration, but the problem is that because there are less nurses, they don't have as many nurses to teach new ones.  As you said, you can see how overworked and tired the nurses are, and it's hard to precept students. It's been hard to find preceptors for nursing students this year, with a lot of preceptors being young nurses with only a year of experience themselves.  They can't accept students with no teachers.

Does anyone know if the nursing waitlist for UofT is ranked or was it first come first serve? I was told that I was on the bottom half of the waitlist. ? Also, what is the last day to hear back from UofT if you are on the waitlist

McMaster just called and gave me an offer around 6 p.m today. I turned in down since I already accepted Nipissing. Keep an eye out and Good Luck!!

I think there's one for UofT but I haven't seen a general forum for 2023. It's under "UofT Fall 2023 Intake"
