Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Same! Honestly, I feel like this application season was so messy. The fact that we had to wait this long to hear back is ridiculous... just to be rejected.

Extra love for my UofT folks today ! Best of luck to everyone ❤️

Yeah it truly sucks?. I wish you luck with everything ?

Also got rejected. That said, I'm content with the school I was accepted into. I hope you all reach your goals, if not now, soon! You've got this!

Just got rejected to UofT!!

What did your portal say? When I checked mine it said refused admission as the status. Is that how they reject applicants?

Yeah it said refused admission. And I think so!

Hi Everyone,

Is there a group for students going to york's second entry nursing program?

I have also been trying to find a group, or FB page but couldn't find anything. If you do find one, please share the link.

Specializes in OR, Nursing Professional Development.

Just a reminder:

There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.

One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.

Two: create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page. Then click on “Create A New Club” in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.

References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

Thank you.

As a reminder…

I'm still pending for mcmaster ?

Me too LOL

I think its probably because im in my second yr and they favour people that have completed their degree. thought id be straight rejected but im surprised im still pending

It may be too late to post my question here since the thread is kinda winding down, but I'll ask.

So, I applied to four schools, three were second entry, one was full four year program. I was refused by all second entry schools. I have accepted the offer from a full four year program when it came, but tbh I'm not keen on doing the entire four years.. it was just a back up, literally my fourth priority out of four...

When is the last day when I can still refuse acceptance? I suppose I can withdraw from all the courses by the deadline there, but how do I withdraw entirely from university? And what are the consequences of such late withdrawal?

I am thinking of going to study somewhere in Europe instead, where it's cheaper than here.

I think its a joke that they are not opening more spaces for students. I work in an emergency room and all I see is how short staffed we are and how overworked and tired nurses are, with staff from other departments and management having to cover nurse positions. With the pandemic and the huge backlog of patients for years to come. How can they not accept students that are capable and willing and stopped only because of space. Why do they apply the same gate keeping logic to nursing to other programs like med school.

I know how short staffed hospitals are and how crazy it can get! Ideally, schools could admit more to meet the needs of the various professions, but they’re probably also constricted by factors out of their control - funding to have additional students, placement availability in hospitals, etc. The numbers admitted don’t match up with the need and generally, especially in nursing, you see things like wage limiting legislation, not enough funding for programs or hospitals, etc. I would guess, but can’t say for certain, that it’s probably an issue that the bureaucracy and politics have a lot to do with. Keep on trying if you’re willing and passionate! Sounds like you have good experiences to bring into nursing. Sorry that it didn’t work out for you this time round but don’t give up!
