Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

I am really hoping this semester cancels out my one previous semester which is dragging my GPA down. Did some universities explicitly say that they r not counting this Winter semester? I believe Mcmaster doesn't count the Winter grades at all but I think the schools that continuously send offers based on seats in May/June would count your Winter term? What do you guys think

I know UofT doesn't weigh heavily on Winter semester, but I am sure other universities do look at your Winter semester too because they do send out offers after April as you mentioned! Don't worry you will get in, promise! ?

I just submitted my supplementary applications - now it is the waiting game. I am assuming most universities will not look at Winter 2022 grades much and will be granting admissions based off the current available grades (including Fall 2021 semester and prior semesters).

My grades for my last 5.0 credits: 3.91/4.0 (7.0 credits because I took 2.0 credits in my Fall 2021 semester).

My grades for my last 10.0 credits: 3.74/4.0 (10.0 credits)

My cGPA for my degree is: 2.57/4.0.

Currently finishing 1.5 credits for Winter 2022 semester.

If you are comfortable with sharing your grades please do!

I just sumbitted mine too. I graduated last May so schools will be looking at my fall and Winter semester (5 credits total, 10 courses total). The GPA for these courses is a 3.9. my overall GPA is a 3.7. Im already so nervouse about waiting and hopfully I hear back earlier rather than later. I only applied to uoft and nipissing

also keep in mind its FCE they calculate. A course that runs from September - December or Janurary to April is only half a FCE. so if they want 5 FCE and your courses ran from Sept - Dec and Jan - Apr then they are taking your average from 10 courses not 5

hey

quick question! do universities look at last 10 courses GPA or last 20 courses? I thought it was primarily focused on last 20 courses.

Hi,

it depends on the school, UofT is the only one I believe that only looks at your last 5 credits (10 courses) the rest look at your last 10 credits (20 courses)

It depends on the university! For example nipissing looks at the top 10 FCE (20 courses) overall and UofT looks at the most recent 5 FCE (10 courses). But I cant speak for every university theyre all different

Hi guys if any of you applied to Queens I was wondering if your “verifier” for the sup essays can only be a profesor or if TAs also would be okay?

From my understanding, UofT will use your Fall semester from last year and the Winter semester before that to reach 10 courses. They will only use your current Winter semester to calculate your average IF you recive a conditional acceptance and must maintain a 75% average.

hey

does uoft have specific supplementary questions or is it just a personal statement talking about experiences, skills and strengths

just a basic 400 word statement on experiences, skill and strengths and why that would translate to nursing etc

Does anyone who is applying to McMaster know for the prerequisite form if we need to provide course outlines for the Biology, Chemistry, biochemistry, etc. courses or just for Human physiology, anatomy and statistic that aren't on the pre approved list?
