Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

For the schools that require Casper, the last day we can take it is March 1st, just wanted to confirm that taking it in March won't affect my application compared to those who took it earlier?

Yes that's okay. You might have just received an email from them confirming this, but I'll post it here for everyone.

Just to confirm and reassure myself, what exactly is the "online supplementary application" with McMaster?

It's the CASPer test. The email they sent out today provides a direct link to the CASPer website to sign up for a test date.

Thanks! So in the application portal, the status "Awaiting" with the red X will stay that way until they have received the test results from CASPer? If March 1 is an accepted testing date, the deadline for Feb. 1 doesn't apply here? Or is there something I should still be uploading before then?

Thanks again for the help.

Yes! If you scroll up on this page I posted a screenshot of the email they sent out today to applicants regarding the supp/CASPer, and what dates are permissible to still qualify for admission consideration and when the supp/CASPer results are due.

Some users on this thread have said that the pre-req form may also fall under this supp category. As far as I know it was never confirmed to be true, but regardless I would treat the pre-req form as falling under the Feb 1st deadline and send that out asap if you haven't already. ? It's very quick and easy!

Great! Thank you so so much for taking the time to respond.

Thank you soo much for letting me know!! It makes me feel so much better knowing that you and possibly others are in the same situation ?❤️ I re-requested my transcript so that it is received once fall term ends (official grades posted) on Wednesday I believe so hopefully everything is good to go.

Hi everyone! Does anyone else’s myhumber say they’re missing requirements even though their transcripts have been received? I emailed them a while ago but they haven’t replied.

OMG yes! It says I am missing the university credits one yet OCAS said they received my transcript a couple of days ago.  I just emailed them so I am glad I am not the only one!

Hello Guys!

I hope everyone is doing amazing. I have applied to Western's second entry accelerated nursing program (beginning September 2022).

Does anyone know if the Altus snapshot is sent to them? I heard from some that it isn't....

Thanks guys!

Joining the thread. Last year I have only applied to uOttawa second entry, and I wasn't so lucky to get in (they only had 6 spots).

This year I've applied to U of T, McMaster, Queens all accelerated, and for full program at uOttawa/Algonquin (I just live in Ottawa, so its my back up plan in case accelerated turns out to be too competitive).

I don't know my GPA, because I graduated from a foreign university and took a bunch of credits here in Canada in various universities... so I am just hoping it'll somehow work out.

Stressed about supplemental essays though. And CASPER.

I have never applied for awards and scholarships before, what have you wrote in U of T award application? Did you apply for anything else? Is it even too late to do that?

Its not too late! I applied for some scholarships through the UofT application. They’re due February 8th. I was just genuine in my passions and tried to connect my past experiences and hopeful future positions and used that to explain why I am deserving of a scholarship. As for my supplementary I wrote a draft and then sent it to a couple people to edit. I then re wrote the draft based on a combination of everyone else’s opinions and my own. It took me about 5 days until I was happy with it.
