Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Hey Guys,

I just finished writing the Casper test. Was I the only one who had a few questions on the bottom of each page where I ran out of time to complete the last word or the final few words of the sentence? ?

It was definitely a unique test in the sense that you can't really study for it and the situations you are presented with are real-life situations!

I'm glad I am done with that. Now I just have to wait.

Hey I read a few posts on Reddit by med school applicants who received their casper scores recently; they placed in the top/4th quartile even though they barely had anything down for the third questions. Don’t worry you’ll be fine ?

@desque Yeah it does keep you on your toes! Apparently Western has a threshold that applicants are supposed to meet so we'll have to see! Fingers crossed

@futurebloombaby I hope so! I have never done a test like this so I guess I was just left with a not-right but not-wrong type of feeling after the test. Did you guys also have similar feelings? I know I answered all the questions to the best of my abilities and made sure to provide reasoning all the time, but it just did not feel like your typical undergraduate examination with knowledge-based questions, if that makes sense.

Yes that sounds familiar! Fingers crossed. ?

For sure. My thoughts were either did I explain enough or darn I could have also added this and there's the timer, next!

Yeah I get what you mean; the Casper is so different. I first took it when I was applying to Mac in my second year a couple years back and I feel like this time went better. Like you, I feel like I did the best I possibly could do we’ll just have to see hehe

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone who applied to Queens knows what the "post secondary course description" thing is on my solus to do list? When I click on it nothing shows up and I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to submit for it or even how to do it. I'm assuming its for the pre-reqs but IDK what the form is or even if I already submitted it cause I've been doing applications since December. Thank you for helping!!

Thanks for your take on the test and congrats! I am taking it in March and one reason for scheduling it for later is because I want to prepare for the test. I have zero ideas what it's about. I know it somewhat of a personality aptitude test or something. I need to do a do a trial run to see what it's like.

I've heard many people say you need to be a quick typer to do this test, did you find it true?

Being a fast typer definitely helps getting all your ideas down in the allotted time. I would say being able to think quickly on the spot matters just as much. In addition to the practice test on Altus, there are a bunch of mock tests and free prep resources you can find online to help study ?

Hey, are Summer school courses included in GPA calculation.

I graduated in November but also took courses as non-degree student in fall 2021 to complete prerequisites for nursing.

1 course = 0.5 credit

fall 2021: 3 courses

Summer 2021: 1 course

Winter 2021: 4 courses

Fall 2021: 5 courses  and so on....

Hey! Only the courses in your undergrad are used for consideration in GPA (fall Winter and Summer semesters) . But the grade of courses after your undergrad are looked at if they’re prerequisites

Hey where did you read that they do not look at courses taken as a non degree student as part of the GPA

I'm also curious where you saw this. I graduated in 2014 and only took pre-preqs in 2020-2021, will they not count any single mark from prereqs?
