Hello future nursing students,
I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.
To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.
How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together
Congrats to everyone for your acceptances and good luck to everyone waiting! U will receive offers soon, many weeks to come! I got accepted to uoft with an 87% average in the last 5.0 credits and completing my prerequisite for physiology. Let me know if you have any questions. I did not expect an offer anytime soon as my CGPA is not the best but I guess they cared more about the most recent 5.0 credits or viewed my app holistically (liked my personal statement). EC's: lab assistant, board of governor member for a student body, council president for school organization, treasurer of a school club, volunteer assisting those with neuro-developmental disorders, language instructors assistant.
Was hoping if anyone could pleaseeee give me any insight on the Uoft or Trent compressed programs. I got accepted to both and both offers expire in two weeks :(( im literally so confused, like ik the obvious choice would be UofT for its great quality of education/being one of the top schools for nursing but its honestly coming down to the costs.. tuition + cost of living expenses.
Could anyone let me know their pros/cons of either program!

Don’t worry, UofT LITERALLY sends every week until the end of June (except Good Friday). You didn’t here yet? No problem because it is only the first round.
In my experience, usually the offers are sent out based on the GPA. FYI, I had 3.7 smth ish 5.0 FCE GPA at the time of the application, and I heard either first or second week of May. My friend with 3.6? Ish GPA heard early-mid June. Be patient.
Those who are accepted, congrats. UofT is hella slow with communication, so don’t worry even if you don’t hear anything about onboarding until mid/end of June. Just forget about it for now, rest up, travel, whatever you wanna do before hell begins. Just trust me LOL.
Hiii could you please give insight on the pros/cons of the program, im choosing between uoft and Trent (got accepted to both) and would appreciate any opinions on either school as my offers expire very soon! thank you

A friend of mine was in a similar situation two years ago. She chose Trent because it was cheaper and closer to her home. However because of pandemic they mostly had virtual shadowing and placements, while I think UofT had more in person stuff, so she was a bit jealous about this. But then at the same time she thought that it doesn't really matter because she gets the same diploma and with shortage of nurses she is sure she'll find a job afterwords regardless of school.
So it's really your choice. Covid doesn't affect schooling the same way right now, most places are in-person for a while now.
Congrats to those who heard back and got accepted. I think the Friday rollout of acceptances is a myth bc I heard back today (Monday) and got accepted ?
I am honestly torn between uoft and york (mcmaster is way too far) does anyone know how many are accepted vs how many apply and whether or not it's worth it to go to uoft considering it's a harder school

The thing about nursing is it’s standardized so I doubt there’s that much difference between what is “harder” I would make me decision based on what they both offer for clinical placements/ time spent commuting etc
