Hello future nursing students,
I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.
To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.
How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Congrats everyone! I got into UofT yesterday with a 3.91 GPA on a 4.0 scale. I am still completing one of my pre-reqs and the requirement was that I keep a 60% in the course.

Hey! I got in yesterday and I have a 4.0 on the UofT scale. I have already finished all of my prereqs too. I've had a job as a nursing assistant, I'm currently a COVID admin, had multiple medical admin jobs, and been on a few clubs as well!

does anyone know what is UofT criteria of selection. Reading through these posts and previous year acceptances I don't see a pattern.

They have a holistic review process so they consider GPA, EC’s and your personal statement. I’m not sure if this helps but I applied last year and didn’t get in. My stats this time around are still the same as last years application (since I graduated last year), but this year I really improved on my personal statement and got in on the first round!

Congratulations.
I waited to finish my Uni. Had a lot going on. Do you mind sharing your personal statement and how you presented your EC’s. I think I messed up there by just listing them. I didn’t on them.

Congrats! That's great to hear! It's amazing to hear what a difference the personal statement can make. I was just wondering when you heard that you were rejected last time if you don't mind me asking?

If you don’t mind my asking, what were your stats the first time?

Thank you!! I was waitlisted around the end of June and then in July they told me there would be no open spots in the program.

My GPA was a 3.84 on a 4.0 scale. As for EC’s, I was a volunteer note taker during my undergrad, I was an executive member of a student-run club, did a volunteer internship, and volunteered at a hospital! (These are the same stats I applied with this time around)
