Hello future nursing students,
I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.
To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.
How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together
Congratulations everyone! ❤️
Does anyone know if York sends out offers randomly or a certain day of the week (like UofT)? Also, for those who got accepted, have you completed your degree? I am currently in my 3rd year and I am completing my psych prerequisites so I would like to know if anyone else is in a similar situation (finishing degree + prerequisites).

Most schools your chances are insanely low without a full undergrad. At UofT their admission stats doc from 2017 states that between the time they opened and 2017, less than 1% of all their admissions ever had less than a full degree and around 30% or so had a master's or PhD. I have a friend in Mac accelerated right now who says there's only a very small handful of admissions with 3 years and essentially no one who got in after 2nd year. This seems to be the trend at most schools, with the exception of UofT where our chance is (sadly) virtually 0. So I would guess, in a cohort of 120, probably 5-10 (depending on how lenient the school is) or fewer will have less than a full degree. Based on others' recollections it seems like the average age in these accelerated programs is 24-26, but often ranges as high as 40. I'm in 3rd year right now and I've gotten western so far but am expecting most, if not all, other schools to reject me. I'm hopeful but realistic.
For further context, I emailed Bloomberg to ask once about it and they replied to say that as a 3rd year I wasn't their ideal student. They further elaborated that if I came in with virtually the same stats and app quality as someone with a full degree or further, it means they got that GPA in higher-level courses and that becomes the deciding factor (ie/ they're now the better applicant). A friend of mine emailed mac acc and they told her not to apply until 4th year because her chances would be extremely minimal. It seems that to get in anywhere without being in 4th year or beyond you need to have insanely good stats and that's just how it is. Or apply to smaller schools.

Okay nice, I have a 3.92 so I’m hoping they just haven’t come across my application yet and my supplementary application is okay…
congrats!
