Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

I got into uoft on Friday! I'm torn between uoft and UBC though (if I get in), b/c I'm from the west coast. Does anyone know how long uoft nursing program is? it says "2 years" but I'm wondering if this is more like 22 months (finish end of June) rather than finish at the end of august (full 2 years)

Thanks so much in advance ?

The thing about nursing is it’s standardized so I doubt there’s that much difference between what is “harder” I would make me decision based on what they both offer for clinical placements/ time spent commuting etc

More or less, yeah it’s definitely standardized to help you pass the NCLEX. All of my friends who are nurses say that it’s factors like placement access, environment, class size, commuting and other practical things that are most important.

so I second this

UofT’s program is 2 years long! It runs from September-June each year. You will have July and August off.

Both schools are the same distance away for me so that’s not a problem. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about nursing at York in particular their teaching staff. But, with uft I’ve heard it’s very theoretical and difficult to do well. At first glance uft is a no brainer, good placements and reputable, but if I want to do further schooling, having a high GPA in nursing would be important so that’s why I consider difficulty.

I looked at their timeline online and it doesnt show anything after June so I’m pretty sure the year ends in June!

This will be my first Summer off in 6 years … had no idea either but I like it, Picasso

Guys, I got into UofT at 8:02 PM today! So it seems like they aren’t necessarily only send offers on Fridays

Hi guys!
so I applied to UofT for fall admissions of 2022. I haven’t heard back yet and I’m starting to lose hope… I’m wondering if there’s anyone who could realistically tell me if I have a chance at getting in with my GPA and EC’s so I’ll add a little overview here:

I have a 3.95/4.3 scale

I have just finished my honours thesis and have also done 3 years of research and hospital research. I have completed two missions trips. I am president of a health care outreach club at my university, I have volunteered with special Olympics for 6 years, I’m a TA and tutor and more.

I know there are more rounds coming but I’m nervous I need to start planning for something else. Any input would be greatly appreciated. And congratulations to everyone who has been accepted thus far!

EDIT: I forgot to mention I’m still completing a physiology pre-req which will be finished end of May. (Not sure if that matters)…

Hey, I think you have a pretty good shot. I got accepted today (not Friday) and have a 3.92 or 3.93/4 GPA. I guess yours would be just under 3.9/4 when you convert it to a 4.0 scale. I also have a lot of research experience like you (multiple publications, 4th year research thesis, side projects, and graduate school research now too). Held leadership roles in quite a few different campus and community (non profit or charity) groups. I would guess that with your experience and stats, you’d be a good candidate for an offer. Seeing that you’re a strong student, I’d guess that as long as your supplementary application was well written and you were able to frame your experiences and relate to nursing well, you should be fine. Although, I don’t know if anyone can really say for sure on this forum. Goodluck!

Hey guys!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I just got accepted tonight!!
