Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Hey guys!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I just got accepted tonight!!

Congrats!

Does anyone know if the time of acceptance has any correlation once accepted into nursing? ie, throughout our undergrads prior to nursing, earlier acceptances helped determine course registration time and things like that. Just wondering if there is any benefit to being accepted early versus later.

Congrats everyone! I'm so excited for us to be at U of T together.

Unsure if you’ve come across this yet, but if you search u of t off campus housing on facebook, you might be able to find someone there or  maybe take over a lease in September. However, a lot of landlords down here won’t agree to rent out their places for September until July/august

other than peace of mind I would say personally I don't think so. Consider that schools that have already done admissions (Western, Queen's, York, etc) want decisions, some as early as now to May 1st. If UofT is your first choice that's epic, but if its not, or if you're not sure you get stuck. Western, Mac, and a few other schools do the bulk of their acceptances in early-end May. All in all though it only sucks if a school you want more accepts you later and then you have to lose your registration fee. But also if you go from Uoft to a 20 month school I guess the reg fee is not much compared to a saved semester of tuition LOL

edit: sorry IDK why it didn't reply properly this was in response to skater123

Hey Congrats!

Damn y'all have gone on mission trips and have publications but I'm here with a measly 3.7 and depression just praying that I might get into mac or western LOL. Good luck everyone!

But as far as I understand, you can accept an offer in OUAC, and it does not affect your chances of being accepted elsewhere because your file is still in process everywhere. If you receive a better offer, you can just cancel your acceptance to that first school and accept the one you like. But when you cancel your acceptance you won't be able to select it again. At least that's what I understood from OUAC FAQ page.

Here are the quotes from OUAC:

When I accept an offer of admission, does it mean that I will not be considered for any other offers?

Accepting an offer of admission from 1 university will not cancel your application to other universities. However, you may have only 1 acceptance on file at a time. Before you can accept a new offer online, you must first cancel the previously accepted offer.

If I accept an offer now, can I change my mind at a later date?

Yes. If you accept an offer but later wish to accept a different offer, you will need to first cancel your accepted offer and then accept the new offer by the stipulated deadline date.

Be sure to consider all other factors such as scholarships, residence acceptance and deposits before you make your final decision.

oh absolutely! I mean its annoying for schools that require a deposit. Not all will but some do. So pretend I have an offer that expires in 2 weeks and I took it and paid $500 to secure my spot but then in late May I got an offer from a school I wanted more...OUAC doesn't care if I change where I've accepted, but the deposit won't be refunded. Standardization for offers and acceptances would be so nice (ie/ like it is with 4-year undergrads where almost all offers (except late admissions for those who applied late, special circumstances, etc) have to come out before "commitment date" which is usually June 1st or somewhere early June).

Aaah I see. I didn't know there is a deposit fee for some universities. That's bananas! It's infuriating to see how universities profit of poor students hesitating to make an important life choice.

I assume it’s random as that has never been officially stated

My ECs were very basic (hospital volunteering, Pandemic Wellness calling, and children’s center) and I included activities I did for a day but multiple times like working during elections… I did no research outside of a 4th year thesis (not even getting published) which I didn’t include bc that’s a course and not outside of school. I think it’s more about how you articulate your experiences.  Don’t count yourself out.
