Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

I also received a transcript evaluation in the mail last week, with a 9/21 "Processed Date".

-Application: Submitted mid-June

-HESI: I took it on Aug 29th and my account removed it from the "To Do List" around mid-September.

It looks like my application was put aside until the HESI results were submitted.

Hopefully they are processing in chronological order and they wont take much longer.

Other than the Nov. 15 date UT provides on their website, does anyone have any idea when we might be hearing back from them? Thanks.

They definitely don't do it in chronological order. I submitted my application at the end of June :/

I called the registrars office and apparently they receive a list from the nursing department of those to evaluate. My name was not on whatever list she was looking at. I'm not sure what that means, but I kinda gave up on getting an evaluation.

She then gave me the number of someone in the nursing dept & the only thing she said is that they have a ton of applicants this round, & that it's taking longer than usual to evaluate.

Once again, I'm not sure what that means lol but I guess I'll find out within the next few weeks.

I applied the end of June. I haven't received a transcript evaluation either. That worries me the most. I wonder how they decide who to evaluate?

@jennmv @Ahawkins I wouldn't be worried! They take so many things into consideration. As long as your stats are competitive, it'll be good! It's just a waiting game!

My friend and I also just received transcript evaluations from the mail this week. We both applied on mid July but she received hers earlier than I did even though she's still incomplete and I already had all my classes.

Hey guys I know I'm super late to posting on this but I was wondering if I could get your opinions on my chances of getting in.

overall GPA:3.861

science GPA: 3.71

prereq GPA:3.8

overall HESI score: 91.2%

reading: 90%

grammar: 94%

vocab: 98%

a&p: 80%

math: 94%

critical thinking: 840

I'm mainly super worried about my a&p and critical thinking scores on the HESI because I read in previous comments that they focus on those sections of the test the most. Do you guys think they are deal breakers or is there still a good possibility I could get accepted? Also, good luck to everyone getting in I just got done reading everyone's comments and you all seem so nice and helpful. Hopefully I will be able to meet you all. And thanks in advance for your help.

Interesting thing about the HESI, if you look at your individual score breakdown, and if you took the Hesi through the UTHSC code, it gives you the UTHSC cutoff scores and our cohort average. I feel like the cohort average in comparison with our scores is really helpful to know where we stand.

@pappa22v What were the cohort averages? Or how do you find them?

Thanks

So I think that the people who have completed their prereqs might not be getting a transcript evaluation or they are not on the priority list.

I received a transcript evaluation twice already, once in August after I had applied and one more now, last week. But I think it was more to let me know I didn't meet the 8 hour nursing pre req at the time (in August first week). My grades were a little late.

I think it might be to help people who don't have everything yet. Like me still missing 6 classes.

With your scores I think there is no way you won't get in!

If i'm not mistaking I think the HESI is valid for 5 years

Class Average:

Vocab 83%

Read Comp 83%

A&P 72%

Grammar 85%

Math 86%

Critical Thinking 814

When you press the + sign on your exam results, and then click each subject results, there is a sliding bar graph that shows the statistical graph. I highlights the cutoff, your score, and the class average.
