SJSU Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

I was looking for a Fall 2018 thread but couldn't find one so I decided to make one. I thought it would be a great way to get to know each other and to know what this applicant pool would be like this semester. I'm so excited!

Big Five GPA - 4.0

TEAs - 92%

Impaction Score - 7.06

Good luck to everyone and nice to meet you all!

Hey guys! First semester nursing student here! If anybody has any questions about the application process or how nursing school is like in general, feel free to ask! I was in your guys' shoes not too long ago and it helped a lot having current nursing students share information, so here I am!

Hi! Thanks for sharing! I got admitted to sjsu this fall, wonder how the program is. I heard both good and bad about it. Hard to choose which school to go!

Hey! Well, I really only applied and really looked into SJSU because it was my top choice! So I dont know about other schools! But I can tell you that probably all nursing schools are going to be very different from any schooling experience you have had in the past. What I feel in my SJSU classes, not only are you learning the theory, but application as well. They are constantly telling us that what we learn is what we are going to bring into clinicals. Our learning is very hands on and very application based. A lot of our instructors have been nurses or nurse practioners for years, so we have a lot of wisdom and knowledge at our disposal. They definitely dont mess around, but thats good so it makes us even sharper for clinicals and eventually the field! Something i find is unique about SJSU is the cohort closeness. Ive always heard of nursing students being very competitive with eachother at other nursing schools. All the cohorts here at SJSU are very tight-knit! We all have eachother's backs, we share notes, we vent about homework and test and professors. Its like a family! And its good, because youre basically stuck with the same people for 3 years lol. And theres so many fun extracurriculars, like clubs and the nursing frat. And so many alumni come back and tell us how they got into new grad programs right after graduating and passing the NCLEX, and a lot of them are pursing their NP. So theres always some bad, but definitely a lot of good comes out of this program. I can keep going on and on, but I hope that gave you some insight to make a decision :)

Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience! That sounds really good! It is so true that all nursing schools are different.

Hey! I didn't see that deadline on my SJSU page? I am only seeing the "Next steps" on the to-do list. Deadlines | Transfer Admissions | San Jose State University

It's showing that partial transcripts are due by May 1 and Final transcripts due/ postmarked by July 15, 2018.

Is April 13 for the nursing school? I'm confused.

Hi Everyone! I got an email from SJSU regarding intent to enroll and that the fees are due by May 1st. My question is what if we don't find out for SJSU's nursing program until after May 1st? Do we still need to pay the 250$ intent to enroll fee??

I'm curious about this too! Chico's nursing program has an exemption for nursing students, so I didn't have to pay to accept admission. I'm hoping that SJSU has the same option, but I have yet to hear anything from the nursing director regarding this.

I contacted her earlier today and she said that we will know by the 27th!

Awesome! Thank you!

Has anyone heard back from sjsu? Or know when we will?
