Hey all you wonderful nurses who have made the journey across the pond, or are nearly there bar the flights! I thought it might be fun/interesting/helpful if you could post something along the lines of "One thing I wish I'd done/known when going to the USA....."
It could be funny/informative or both & could encompass learning to live in the USA or work or the immigration process: whatever you think..........
You never know, it might end up as the best sticky on the site
Of course I can start it off (although I don't actually qualify as I'm not there, or even nearly yet) by saying "I wish I'd known how long it was going to take!":)
Now over to y'all..................
Hey I bet we ALL wished we knew retrogression might end up hitting us as well as the PIC countries!!
Hope you get good news soon SD - last time it only hit the UK for a very short period, if I remember correctly I think the process even sped up for UK nurses. Hope the same happens this time!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think I'd like to see that in my back yard! Great picture though!
Where I'm going it's the little tiny ones that cause the most trouble. They call them "noseeums" because you don't until they've buried their rotten little heads in you & that hurts!!
Of course I much prefer this little visitor we have in our Florida back yard:
Must admit that did amaze me on the lack of holiday/vacation time in the US
We do self scheduling and up to now it has been honoured. What I try to do every month is get at least a 6 night break once a month which means I use my vacation time for when I have been called off. This month I have had 2 x 6 night breaks and next month I have one 8 night break(I work the first 3 nights of one week and the last 3 nights of the 2nd week).....the beauty of working 3 x 12 hour night shifts!!!!

Thanks RGN 1 and best of luck Mine seems to be at a standstill ! One Question - what is retrogression?
There are a few threads in the international forum about retrogression but basically at the moment visas have run out and at the moment there are no movements for everyone. Countries with high demand will be affected the most and countries with less demand should run a bit quicker. Because elections are coming up in the US nothing about visas will be sortd until the new year at the earliest.
Hope this helps

tell me about it... Just sold house today but told them we don't want to complete before end of Jan at the earliest, which is OK with them as they have a house to sell. Hoping it won't affect us for too long
