One D, 2 W...any hope for me to get into nursing school?

Published

Okay, so for some reason, I can't seem to get this one class finished: Nutrition. I withdrew from it once (and now a big fat W along with another W grade that I got from Psychology...As and Bs in the sciences just not in any other class that doesn't involve science) shows up on my transcript and now I'm almost failing this class now that I'm finally taking it. I plan to retake it again for a better grade but it will still show on my transcript. I think I am just psychologically not doing well in this class due to my hate for vegetables.

Anyone, go through the same thing? I admit that I probably should take this class and nothing else the next time I take it.

Yes, retaking without any other distractions should help. What nutrition class are you taking?? I took it several years ago but my class was super easy and my instructor made it fun and easy. Sorry, I know that probably doesn't help you. Is there a different instructor you could take? Hope you can buckle down and do well so you don't have to retake it. I had to retake 2 classes and I felt that it added a little more stress because I knew I had to do well! Good luck to you. Hope you get it figured out.

I had 2 Ws and a D in a second semester Biology and got in. (but the school doesn't require 2nd semester Biology to get in). Try looking into private schools.

My advice-- get over your hate for vegetables. ;)

What's the deal? Do they make you eat veggies as part of the course? If not, I don't see why a person's food preferences should make a difference....

Yes, you'll be able to get into NS... Just apply for any of the schools on your board of nursing's approved website (those in proximity to you)...

I have a challenged transcript as well ~ but nothing's going to stop me... If people with psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities and english as their second language can get in - I (YOU) CAN TOO!

I have a few F's on my transcripts, but I will still be able to get it somewhere I'm sure. You'll be fine. Nutrition class sucks, i'm in it now, but should come out with an A though it's HARD!!!

Be careful, most programs do NOT let you retake core sciences if you have a C or better in the course. They also are starting to restrict how many times you can retake support courses like psychology. My friend took psychology and got an F twice (she was and kinda still is a party-er) so then third time she took it, she got an A but the BSN program denied her because she retook psychology which was a pre req.

If all your getting is Bs, especially in the sciences you may have to look into private schools. I know the competition isn't really convenient but it is what it is. Try to bump up your other grades. Some classes, especially non nursing related doesn't matter with the F's or W's just matters on your GPA.

Good luck!

Definitely agree with BeachBedHead - the "real" classes: Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Gen Psych (not that lifespan one), Intermediate Algebra, Eng 101 - you have to knock those jokers out of the park... Nutrition and all that other jazz, do your best to get a C and if you can't hack it; take the W over the F. F's destroy your gpa.

Also, get over the hatred of veggies... That class at most will be 16 weeks long. I am stuck at a job that I despise with people that I think are idiots; but I need to be able to get unemployment when it's time for nursing school, so grin it and bear it.

Use the class to test yourself on your ability to do what you have to do when you dont want to...

You'll do fine, the semester's almost over!

Ha Ha Ha....I so know how you feel! My fiancee is luckily going to cover my bills during nursing school! But I still work at a stupid job (with idiots too) and man I cannot wait until nursing school, because, most of all I will finally start my nursing journey and another good perk is finally quit my idiotic job! Right now I have to work more to save up so I can quit but I hate working there its a drag......God can't I get accepted and start already!

Yes for right now we have to grin and bear it (that includes working Christmas and Thanksgiving again just to serve! ARGH)

......Rant over lol

hi there I would have to agree about the major classes do your best but I have 2 W from human a&p and a D from C and I have gotten accepted into 2 different nursing schools. Remain optimistic and keep a positive attitude. Nutrition is a fairly decent course if just depends on your teacher. ask a classmate for help or start reading chapters every night for an hour. hope this helps

I guess your interest level for this class if fairly low; and that's why it is reflecting on your performance in the class. Think of it as the only requirement to get into Nursing school...I'll bet you work you a** off.
