  1. I am wanting to get into aesthetics (Botox, fillers, chemical peels, etc). I am an RN in Oklahoma City and I don't feel like there's a clear pathway to get info on training/classes. When researching classes, I am finding a lot of programs geared towards medical professionals but I have no clue which ones are good or ones to steer clear from. It seems as though the training can be pretty expensive too and don't want to waste money on a program. Anyone know which ones are legit? Thanks in advance.
  2. Cici, do you know what the points will be going down to?
  3. Cici, yay! I'm so happy you are sticking with it!! Congrats! I can try to help with the HESI, at least give you some pointers. If you use the study guide, the Evolve study guide, it will help a bit. The anatomy & physiology part was the hardest for me. I studied from the end of July until I took it in Sept, but I wanted to make sure I got the best possible score. Good luck to you!! So exciting!!
  4. Meltedsnickers, I used the HESI Evolve study guide. You can order it online or buy it in the bookstore on the OSUOKC campus. The study guide is not the greatest but I wouldn't go in blind. I would use the study guide but just know you may need other supplemental books to help you study such as old Anatomy or physiology books. The HESI is not hard but you do need to study. I studied for about 7 weeks for it. I made an 82, although I should have done better, the anatomy and physiology sections were the hardest (for me) and from research I did about the study guide: the evolve study guide is the only study guide for the HESI and it's quite difficult to study for the science sections because there's so much info that can be tested. I don't mean to scare you at all about it. I would do some research to see what all you can find about it. Much luck to you!
  5. Thanks! I'm super excited. I had 98 pts and the letter did say the cut off was 90 this semester. Lots to do to before school starts! So what is your plan for school? I will keep in touch. Keep me posted on your school plan.
  6. Meltedsnickers, the way I understand it, if you are currently taking a class (such as anatomy) and apply for the nursing program, you wont get points for a class you are currently taking, only points for classes that are finished and on your transcript. I would definitely take all your classes to get maximum points before you apply. You will get a large number of pts for your gpa with it being so high and once you start taking your sciences you will get pts for those. I would also wait until you have taken your sciences to take the HESI. I would have been completely lost if I had taken it without the science classes. Hope this helps you. Like Ciale said, go in and talk to ****. She can help you figure out where you are and what you need.
  7. Cici, the letters went out a while back. I got in! Yay!! How are things with you?
  8. Alphadog, I took the HESI a few months ago. I made an 82 overall. I studied from the end of July through until I took it in Sept. I really think you need that much time to absorb all the info...even if it's reviewing the material over and over. I think I remember reading at the beginning of the study guide to give yourself as much study time as possible. I also pulled out my old physiology and anatomy books to help me review certain sections. I'm not sure if this will help but I think more study time may help you out. I also purchased a math review book by Kaplan called Math for Nurses which walked me through a lot of the types of problems that were on the test and explain in-depth on how to work them out. I know I wouldn't have passed the math section if it weren't for that book! Good luck to you!
  9. Sure thing. Not sure how to chat in private though. I can email you the info too.
  10. Things are going good with the to-do list. I got my immunizations done today and got my scrubs too. I also got the extended background check done. Just figuring out the CPR thing. I guess I will do it online. I'm sure your CPR class you took will be fine. Good thing you already took that class, just one less thing you have to do! My girlfriend, who is currently in her first semester, emailed me a list of books....and they are expensive. I can forward you the info if you would like it. She has also saved everything they have done in class so far, so I have lots of info. She has told me all the things we will be learning is very straight forward and she loves it. It's not like all the prereq science classes we have taken. Are you starting to get things done? Lots to do! I looked at stethescopes yesterday at the mall. You may know of a good place to get them, if so I'd love to know where to go. Good luck to you getting stuff done.
  11. I'm curious what other students are doing for the CPR class....are you going to do the didactic portion at home and just go to do the hands on or do it all on location? I would rather do what I can from home but on the AHA website, I was a little lost. We just need to take the BLS portion correct? I guess I just need to make sure I'm looking at the right info. :)
  12. I received my acceptance letter yesterday!! I am so happy and so excited! Congrats to everyone who got into their programs! Good luck to you all! :) :)
  13. Congrats to you guys! I was accepted too! I'm shocked the letters came today!? Can't wait to meet everyone. Now to get my to do list going....lots of stuff to do. Such a relief though. :)
  14. Thanks for the update. I'm praying it will be this week. At least they are getting close. Trying to stay positive.
  15. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? I was hoping we would get them today but disappointed when I got to my mail box. Hoping it's tomorrow!!
