You didn't read very carefully. I said the only way to IMMEDIATELY lose your license is to cause a death. And even then it would have to be a death caused deliberately or through extremely poor nursing practice. Otherwise, depending on the offense, it's suspended immediately pending investigation, or you can still work pending investigation.

The OP is talking about losing her nurse aide license. Evidently she was let go like 3 times in the last year for misconduct.

I've read some of her other posts here about it.

So anyway, it's not a nursing license, it's an aide license in question.

license and cna once their pulled you're history its like once a sex defender is on the defender list he or she is there for good, life time period.

Your original post asked the question about whether this was true, but it appears that you've already made up your mind. Several people here have commented on their personal experience or knowledge of people who have lost licenses temporarily and then gotten them back and gone on with their careers, but you don't seem to believe us. ???

I have known a number of nurses (no CNAs) who have lost their licenses but regained them after meeting the requirements and stipulations of the BON. I was involved in hiring one RN who not only lost her license, but went to prison for dealing illicit drugs, and she was eventually able to get her RN license back and return to work. It was a long, demanding process for her, but she was v. motivated and determined.

By the way, it is also not true that every sex offender ("sex defender"??) is listed on the sex offender registry for life -- in some states, in some cases involving minor offenses and good compliance with treatment/follow up recommendations, people can be temporarily placed on the registry but removed after a certain length of time. This varies from state to state.

The lawyer for the Texas board spoke about this at a seminar last week. The board her has certain stipulations about applying to have your license reinstated. Revoked or suspended you can reapply after you have fully completed all the stipulations required by the BON as well as any Criminal Jusitce requirements like probation. Several years after probation ends and if you behave yourself you can apply for reinstatement. Check with the licensing agency or a lawyer for the specifics.

Clarification: RN's and LPN's hold a license. CNA's have a certificate, and are working under the nurse's license.

I have a criminal conviction of attempted poss. of controlled substance by Fraud, never did I pick the medication up, but I was given 5 years def. probation. It was revoked due to a DUI, which was dismissed by the State of Transportation, but picked up by the county, I was set for trail, but peior to trail, had my probation revoked. Spent 90 days in jail, then had to go to Rehab, and Outpatient Rehab. I have not lost my license, but the BNE does want me to go through a 2 year Peer Assistance Program. When I informed my Manager of this, I was immediately drug tested, and of course, my test will be postive for hydrocodone, sue to a herniated disc, and I am under M.D. care, I cannot return to work until I hear from them, I have been employeed with this hospital for almost 5 years, with a 2 year break. I have never lied on my application of my past criminal history, but now my Manager is throwing it up in my face, and also accusing me of diverting drugs! The excuse they used for my drug test was a "Drug Descrepancy", in which there was not one, and I was the only one tested. I feel I am being singled out, and now my Manager does not want me working on her floor anymore due to the accommodations this program the BNE wishes me to enter into! Is there anyone else out there with a similar situation as mine? Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I receive a bulletin from my SBON, quarterly, I think.....there is always a list in there who has lost their license, the offense commited, and probations, AND reinstatements.

So they do give your license back, depending on the offense.

I'm sorry you're going through this. You will find, unfortunately, that there are some nurse managers who are unable to accept that nurses (and doctors) have a problem, and that all nurses/docs who have a drug-related offense are "bad". When I first went into recovery and joined a nurse diversion program, the hospital I worked at claimed to be supportive but in reality they looked for an excuse to terminate. The facility I'm at now worked with me and supported me, to the point where the DON came looking for me to say that if there was anything I needed from her --- letters, etc. --- to let her know. It all depends on the facility and each manager.

Are you union? If yes, you definitely want to contact your rep. If not, is there someone at peer assistance you can talk to?

There's no such thing as an aide license. Why did you ask about your nursing career when you're not a nurse?

PS-your posts are a bit hard to navigate due to the improper use of words and significant spelling errors. It might make it easier for people to understand you if you proofread a little more.
