I need practical, real-world nursing shoes suggestions. My current pair is a pair of EasySpirit walking shoes. By the end of the day, my feet hurt so bad. I think maybe the toebox is too narrow since my "pinky" toe gets squished up under my 4th toe, which has now caused a blister? corn? bunion? whatever you call that thing. Does anyone have any suggestions for not just "good" shoes, but "great" ones? I really don't care if they cost $50 or $500 at this point.
Don't know if this will help you, but it's worth a shot....I have rather flat feet, so you can imagine how sore, achy, and painful they are after standing on tile all day. Recently, I started using "arch bandages" on my feet--they are just little loops of stretchy Ace-bandage type material that you slip over your foot, and they lift your arches up. You can get them at pharmacies for about $6 each. They've made a WORLD of difference for me. Arch bandages+Crocs= foot bliss. Good luck! :)
I have wide feet and the only shoe I have found so far that does not kill my feet or ankles are the Asics. I work in an ER and run for 12 hours a night 4 nights in a row and my feet still don't hurt. I tried the Dansko's and I almost broke my ankle and my neck, New Balance left me wanting my feet to fall off so that they would quit hurting. Crocs left my feet hurting and I almost fell several times. However I have discovered what shoe works for one doesn't always work for another. Good luck in your comfy shoe search.
I think the key is finding the pair that is right for you. If you have a shoe that has been comfortable for you in the past in your everyday wearing, such as what you would wear on a vacation that involved a lot of walking use them and see if it works.
Otherwise, if you are working a 12 hour shift, sometimes its just getting used to being on your feet for so long. I remember i used to not be able to walk if i took my shoes off after i got home. Dont have that problem any more. Be kind to yourself.
I wear Birkenstocks. I tried some cherokee nursing shoes and my feet were killing me after a 6 hour clinical, even at the 4th hour my feet were barking at me.
I then invested in a $125 pair of birkenstocks. I have a wider foot, and they are amazing. I've never tried the crocs cause i just don't think i need to. I love my birkenstocks. They mold to your feet. When you first try them on they are uncomfortable, and they recommend that you wear then a few hours a day for 2 or 3 weeks to break them in. I however wore then for a couple of 12 hour shifts and boom broken in....lol!! I never have to worry about my feet hurting, i work in an ER as a tech and sometimes work a 16 hour shift and not once through any shift do i have to think about my feet. They are amazing!!
I used to think New Balance and SAS were really good shoes for me. I also tried Nursemates and they KILLED my feet. Then I tried Quarks and Crocs and there is just no comparison. My feet RARELY hurt now. I would not have thought that lightweight foam shoes could be so comfortable, but they are. They are liking walking on air. Love them! Either brand runs about $30 and they are well worth buying and trying!
I swear by newbalance. I tried Dansko and they killed my feet. New balance have a wider toe box and good arch support. Just my 2 cents worth.

foot-locker usually has NB on sale at 2 pairs for $89.00, and they're the best I've tried so far. My feet don't hurt after 2 16 hr. shifts back-to-back! Now the low back pain from bedside care is another thing tho. LOL

Someone mentioned Asics..If you have wide feet I wouldn't go with those. We used those in cheerleading and they KILLED my feet.
