B: ZDoggMD famously said "The Joint Commission" sounds like a marijuana dispensary.

Hahahaha- My hospitals IT services blocked TJC website from me, reason listed as "drug paraphernalia". Hilarious, except I regularly use the website for my job, so that was fun.

Specializes in Geriatrics w/rehab, LTC, hospice patient.

You sound just as excited about them as I am about state surveyors showing up at my facility :)

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.
Be advised- they don't like it when you use their old name.

They can change their name all they want, but they were JCAHO when I first became a nurse, and so they will always be JCAHO to me.

Hide your coffee!

Specializes in Hospice, corrections, psychiatry, rehab, LTC.

I was on duty when JCAHO came through a mental health facility where I once worked. I had a patient who deliberately cut her arm that morning. I was dressing the wound when the inspectors arrived on my unit. They looked in the room and saw what I was doing, and they left without asking a question.

Specializes in Med/Surg/Infection Control/Geriatrics.

You poor kid!!!

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

It's almost like they're trying to hide their identity!

Hide your coffee!

They're REBRANDING.

Like how Kentucky Fried Chicken became known as KFC in the '80s.

Hide yo' drinks, hide yo' snacks!

Who's JACHO? Be advised- they don't like it when you use their old name.

My heart aches when thinking of their hurt feelings...

Specializes in school nurse.
Just TJC now.

Rather pompous, isn't it? They don't even bother mentioning what their commission does. Sort of ominous, like that old movie "The Star Chamber"...
