Youngest - 12

Oldest - 51 with twins. She had IVF, wound up with PIH and gest diabetes, was a stat section because of an aneurism and wound up being transferred to another facility. She died a week later ... so very sad.

My oldest was 53 via IVF and youngest was 13.

Youngest: 12 year old, had a healthy delivery and baby. The father was an adult man, arrested and charged shortly after.

Oldest: a woman well into her 50s using donated eggs to give birth to triplets. The health outcomes were poor for all concerned unfortunately. Mom almost died after a nasty bit of DIC and all three babies were very unhealthy. One died and the other 2 spent months in the hospital before finally making it home with traches, shunts and g-tubes.

I guess my "pampered" mommy was lucky. All kids were pretty healthy, born at 32 weeks. I saw them in a media story a couple of years later and they were all well and developing normally. Mom's biggest concern was that her appearance would return to its prepregnancy condition. Some pregnant women do get things like stretch marks, ya know!

you're in for a fright..

WOW !!! That is unbelieveable.

I've helped a 12 y/o deliver, her Mom told her to get pregnant for the SS money. She said all her sisters had children and they all lived with her Mom. She cried "this hurts, I won't do this again".

The oldest was 52 and her own daughter delivered also on the same day!

Not a nurse yet, but have been a clinical social worker for 20 years...

have worked with two 12 year old moms and several who were 13. My daughter (now 11) has heard all about it and I reinforce how great it was having her at age 33. She tells everyone that she wants kids after she's 30 - I hope she keeps that attitude!!

I was an Extern still in school but the youngest was a girl who had just turned 15 and the oldest was like 46 or so, she had like 28 year old kids... change of life baby.

While I was in nursing school though, they delivered a barely 12 year old but they would allow no contact with her.

We had a lesbian situation... 59 year old partner pregnant with triplets from the donated eggs of thirtysomething year old other partner. Babies in the NICU but fine. Nice ladies but man did the older one look horrible after that delivery.

Out of curiosity, any reason the 30 something didn't carry the babies? That's a heck of a burden to put on a 59 year old body. I'm not gonna do that. I don't wanna. :trout:

The youngest our unit has delivered was 12; the youngest I've delivered was 13.

The oldest was a 51 year old who managed to get a fertility doctor to do artificial insemination on her (her 1st baby) and she was pregnant with twins. She came into our triage by ambulance after she was found unconscious by a friend at home. Within a few minutes it was determined that both babies were dead (3rd trimester TIUP) and mom died a few hours later in the ICU. Second saddest thing I've seen on l&d.

(First saddest was a 30 year old primagravida who died from a amniotic fluid embolism while pushing. Baby was delivered by c/s in l&d room as soon as the death was pronounced. This was my first day as a l&d nurse.)
