please pray for me...

  1. Hello Okies!
I just wanted to ask you to pray for me. I had a house fire Thanksgiving night and am temporarily displaced. The fire actually made the front page of Friday's Tulsa World, although they got my last name wrong and the price of damage the put is about 15 times lower than the real damage. News
I'm just really stressed right now and trying to get through the weekend. My insurance company sent me a wonderful restoration company and they said they take care of everything and don't want me to do anything. I took off work Friday and will probably take off Sunday, but today I'm going to try to go work and get my mind off of it. But if you can pray for my patience and strength though this I would appreciate it. My mind is still going in circles most of the time!

I'm praying for you too. Please remember during times like this, that God is always in control. He will never put no more on you (us) than you (we) can bear.

Thanks so much everybody! I thought I'd give you a quick update...
The restoration company has been wonderful to me. I think everything got moved out of my house this afternoon and they are begining the real work. As a positive note to the damage, I found out I had hardwood floors under my carpet so they are taking up all the carpet and refinishing the wood, painting in the 2 rooms and hallway that had the most damage, cleaning all the other rooms, and taking up the dreaded carpet that's been in the kitchen and replacing it with tile (at a small expense to me on the tile.) They took every piece of clothing and linen to the cleaners and have been working to restore as many of my books as possible (especially my nursing ones!) Everything in my living room was trashed except the drapes. They told me I need to have paint, tile, and harwood stain chosen by Friday, which means I also need to have furniture picked out so I can figure out colors. I'm a little overwhelmed by it all! I just keep trying to remind myself how nice my house will be after all this! Thursday evening I plan to do most of the shopping and decisions with a friend...think I can do it????
The studio apartment I'm in is nice - small, but nice. My cat has adjusted and isn't so skiddish anymore and I've forgiven her for the candle. In fact once everybody hears about all the redecorating I'm getting to do they ask if they can borrow my cat!
Thanks for praying for me, and I would appreciate the continued prayers for strength and patience to get through this all. I struggle with depression (which has been controlled for about a year now) and am trying very hard to take care of myself to prevent a relapse. I am told that the adrenaline rush of surviving starts to wear off in about a week and to expect a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
