Oklahoma introductions....

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Some of us in this forum have been here for a while, but there have been several new "faces" lately. :welcome:

So maybe we can do introductions.

Tell us :

your first name (if you want)

where you live

where you work, and what your position is, how long you've been there, etc

if you are in school, the name and type of program

plans for future education

and anything else that's fun to know about you.

Here's me:

My name is Lana (I always tell people that Lana sounds like Banana, and that's how I ended up with my nickname)

I live in Tulsa and have been here for 6 years, 4 years in OKC before that.

I have been at St. John's as a CNA for 1 month and it's sooo educational! I've very glad to have that experience.

I'm in the LPN program at Tulsa Technology Center and it looks like I will be able to finish in late February or early March, I want to take the boards sometime in March though.

After finishing that I am planning to go straight into TCC's LPN-RN program or possibly working a year and then doing OU's LPN-BSN or Langston's LPN-BSN if they have it up and running.

I'm single and looking (although not looking very hard because I don't have time for dating right now!), am 28 years old, and am quickly becoming the "crazy cat lady" because my cat is my baby. She's pictured in my avatar. If you guys have seen that commercial on TLC about "dating is hard, but so is becoming the crazy cat lady," that suits me to a T! I'm going to buy myself the figureine that they sell for it!

Who's next?????

I spent my middle school and high school years in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Went to school in Indianapolis and worked some in Lafayette. I absolutely loved the winters there. Autumn was amazing! Of course, I was born in Oklahoma, but I do miss those winters! Martbabynurse:lol2:

I am Joe, and I work as an ER Tech at St. John. I live in Tulsa with my wife, who's an RN at St. John. I'm currently going to school at Rogers State, getting my pre-reqs out of the way for the Paramedic program, which starts in Fall. My ultimate goal is to be out in the field as a Paramedic, but I really like the ER I'm at, so I plan to be there awhile, even if I have to go ECB down the road.

Hi, My name is Kim. I have a wonderful 3 year old son and 2 foster sons ages 12 months and 8 months. I live in the Oklahoma City area and I am currently working at a bank. I am really wanting to get into an LPN program and eventually become an RN. It seems I will have to quit my job to attend the schooling since the classes are during the day. I am taking medical terminology right now and that seems like a tough class.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do in the medical field to earn an income while attending the LPN program. Also how hard is it to get into these programs and what school in the Oklahoma City area does anyone recommend?

Thanks and I look forward to all the helpful advice.

Hello everyone! :studyowl:I am currently a student @ RSU in claremore. I took my LPN through equiv. and am working at David L. Moss in the infirmary (I love it). I'm married to a wonderful man, without him I may have never followed my dream of becoming a nurse (at almost 40yrs old, although I've heard it is the new 20's). I have a son who is a senior (We graduate the same month). No pets right now life is way to hectic! Hope to get to know with you.

My name is Liz. I just moved back to Oklahoma, after living in Colorado for several years. I own property in little Kansas, almost to arkansas, and travel to OKC to work. I work in er and icu, and love the excitement of it all. My husband and I just celebrated our first year anniversary. He has just applied to Bacone college in Muskogee for x-ray tech. so that he can travel with me. Its good to be home.

My name is Dotti and I have posted here before and wanted to provide an update. I started my career change to RN in March, 2005. I will get my LPN in June, 2007 and my RN in May, 2008. I have accepted my first job in healthcare as a nurse tech. I went to orientation at BMC (Bailey Medical Center) the last two days and I was very pleased with what I saw. You can see how pretty it is at www.baileymedicalcenter.com. The CEO is Alfredo Ontiveros and he spent about an hour with us getting to know our names and our backgrounds and telling us about Bailey. The thing that impressed me the most was how positive he was and how he wanted us to be positive and thanked us for choosing Bailey. They did a really great job of spending 8 hours telling us about the company. My first day is today so wish me luck. I will be working on the med-surg floor. There are less than 200 people who work there and I will be happy to be back in such a small office instead of a company of 250,000. I feel blessed to have joined the Bailey family.

Hello, I'm Katie and I live in southwestern Oklahoma. I became aware of my interest, admiration, and love for the nursing field while taking care of my mom who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in June of 2006. I was her "nurse", as she called me, until she passed away in December.

I've decided to go the CNA to LPN to, possibly, RN route. I start the CNA program in a couple of months. I can't wait!

Hi, I transplanted from Kansas to Oklahoma last August. I live in Tahlequah and work in Pryor. I have 5 boys at home. DH helps a lot at home, with homeschool and housework. Our 3 girls are older and married. They live in Kansas. I also have grandchildren. I turned 40 while in nursing school 3 years ago.

I've thought about changing my name on here since I'm no longer a student practical nurse and I no longer live in kansas. Brian said to submit 3 choices, but I'm not sure yet.

hi everyone i am currently in the lpn program ... graduating june 27th :balloons: :balloons: then i am moving back to tulsa(where i grew up) i am working in a nursing home here ... nice to meet everyone

I live in locust grove and while I am not a nurse I hope to be one.

The plan is for me to go back to school when the 3 year old gets in school full time and the hubby gets done with his school.

I am considering going the LPN route first but who knows what life will have planned by then. :rotfl:

Hi. My name is Ashley. I am 32 years old and I live in BA. I applied for TCC for the fall and didnt get in. Monday I applied at TTC for the LPN and I am keeping my fingers crossed, although I have heard that you are really just paying $15 app fee to get on the waiting list. I am taking the CNA this summer (which I know that is why I didnt get into TCC). I am going to the info session on Tues at TTC for the 1+1 program to see what that is all about. The letter said that there were only 16 spots but I am hoping to get in somewhere. Oh, and I just got a job @ Southcrest as a unit sec.

Hi to all...My name is Kathy and I have just relocated to Owasso from Edmond. I was a charge LPN at an assisted living/memory care unit in Oklahoma City. I am also one of the "older" girls that went back to school to complete my schooling. Went back to school at 52yo and absolutely loved it. So glad to meet all of you here!!!
