Some of us in this forum have been here for a while, but there have been several new "faces" lately. :welcome:
So maybe we can do introductions.
Tell us :
your first name (if you want)
where you live
where you work, and what your position is, how long you've been there, etc
if you are in school, the name and type of program
plans for future education
and anything else that's fun to know about you.
Here's me:
My name is Lana (I always tell people that Lana sounds like Banana, and that's how I ended up with my nickname)
I live in Tulsa and have been here for 6 years, 4 years in OKC before that.
I have been at St. John's as a CNA for 1 month and it's sooo educational! I've very glad to have that experience.
I'm in the LPN program at Tulsa Technology Center and it looks like I will be able to finish in late February or early March, I want to take the boards sometime in March though.
After finishing that I am planning to go straight into TCC's LPN-RN program or possibly working a year and then doing OU's LPN-BSN or Langston's LPN-BSN if they have it up and running.
I'm single and looking (although not looking very hard because I don't have time for dating right now!), am 28 years old, and am quickly becoming the "crazy cat lady" because my cat is my baby. She's pictured in my avatar. If you guys have seen that commercial on TLC about "dating is hard, but so is becoming the crazy cat lady," that suits me to a T! I'm going to buy myself the figureine that they sell for it!
Who's next?????

My name is Greg, and I live in Moore with my pregnant wife (due in Nov), 2 year old son, German Shepherd, and cat. I work full time at Mercy as a NA on the Ortho-Neuro floor and have been there a week. As far as school goes, I am in Rose State's RN program, due to be completed in December of next year. I am also completing my pre-med requirements, and plan to go to OSU's DO program in the fall of '08. After school, we are moving to Alaska or upstate New York.

My name is Ramona and I am from OKC, born and raised. I have worked retail for about 8 years, but have always wanted to be a nurse. I have my associates in Pre-nursing from RSC and I did one year of a BSN program. I hate that program, but that's a long story. So I took a year off (not on purpose) and got sick (and depressed) and ended up in the ER. I knew right then I had to go back to school and finished my dream. So I now I'm in a LPN program (I know I went backwards) at Metro Technology Center in OKC and so far I am loving it. I know I want to go on and get my BSN and MSN. Sometimes I get sad thinking about how long I have been in school and how long it's going to take me to complete my goals. But I am 100% sure that God will help me through it and if I don't have a plan, God will have plan.

HI, Jaime here, I live in McAlester, 31 with 2 children, a good husband, 4 cats, a great pyrenees and 2 pygmy goats(they're the dog's) I graduated this summer from Excelsior as an RN and am starting next week at Paris Regional in Texas as OKlahoma and I are disputing why EC grads should travel to Midwest City for additional clinicals before allowed to sit for NCLEX. Will be working in TX and AR for that reason. Lived in OK all of my life and have been a Paramedic for ten years now. Will start my masters work in the next two years for my CNM and Family NP.
Hey Ramona! Don't feel bad about how long it has taken you. I am 28, have enough college hours to have a bachelors degree, but no degree to show for it. I didn't figure out what I wanted to do with my life until I was 26, so you're ahead of me! Congrats on getting back to school and thanks for posting your intro!

I am LisaRN. I live in the Tulsa area.
I work for a staffing agency. My primary areas are NICU and ER. I have been a nurse for 10 years.
I live in a small zoo. I have 4 kids, 3 cats, 4 birds, 2 dogs, fish and a rabbit. We are thinking about charging admission to our house.
I currently have an ADN. I do plan to go back to school but not until the wild man starts school as I do not have enough sanity left to try and wrangle him and school. The one to which I refer is currently hanging off the end of the couch and you will note it is 2236.......

Hello, my name is Tammy and I live in Independence, KS just about 40 miles north of Bartlesville, OK or 80 miles north of Tulsa. I am currently a second year respiratory therapy student and will graduate in May but my plans are to go back into the nursing program starting in June and will finish in December of 2008. I have already had one semester of nursing and have done all of my pre-reqs. I have tossed RT and RN around trying to figure out which way I wanted to go for sure but I think I will finish nursing as there are so many more opportunities for nurses. I am also running into the problem of living in a small rural area and the open market for RT's is very small. I have contacted Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville about maybe working there when I am done. Has anyone ever heard of how JPMC is or how it is to work there? I am interested in working L & D but would also love a NICU of which I would have to drive to Tulsa for. Nice to meet you all.
JPMC is run by the same sisters who run St. Johns where I work. I haven't heard anything specifically about them though. Welcome to the Oklahoma forum!

Hi Im Buck 25 married for 7 years and a 7 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter. I currently work at Grace Hospice as a Home Health Aide/CNA the night shift and go to school at Green Country Tech. in Okmulgee for my LPN (I grad. in Dec.) I am looking into TCC or Platt for my bridge to RN. I am an EMT also and will eventually end up in the ER. Thats about it for me.
rtin05. I am well familiar with Independence. I grew up just south of Coffeyville. We always loved the little zoo there. I used to take my older girls at least weekly when they were small. I need to take my little ones there.
I haven't been in JPMC in a long time, but it used to be a pretty good place. Small enough that everyone knows eveyone. Kinda like a family. Most employees were long timers. I can't tell you much about current as it has been while. I think I would be suprised if too much has changed.
Good luck

Hey y'all - I've jumped into a few threads but haven't introduced myself yet...
I'm Traci. I'm 32 and live in OKC w/ my husband and our 2 dogs. I'm pursuing my BSN at OCU and love it - eventually I hope to pursue an advanced degree. I grew up in Tulsa/Broken Arrow and most of my family still lives in the area so I hope we can someday move back there!!

I'm originally from Oklahoma, but living in the Midwest. My heart is still in Sooner country. OU graduate, now taking pre-reqs with the plan of pursuing a BSN at a regional campus of Indiana University.
Right now it's Human Anatomy and I'm actually enjoying it.
The boys in my username are 6th graders and lots of fun.
