Oklahoma introductions....

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Some of us in this forum have been here for a while, but there have been several new "faces" lately. :welcome:

So maybe we can do introductions.

Tell us :

your first name (if you want)

where you live

where you work, and what your position is, how long you've been there, etc

if you are in school, the name and type of program

plans for future education

and anything else that's fun to know about you.

Here's me:

My name is Lana (I always tell people that Lana sounds like Banana, and that's how I ended up with my nickname)

I live in Tulsa and have been here for 6 years, 4 years in OKC before that.

I have been at St. John's as a CNA for 1 month and it's sooo educational! I've very glad to have that experience.

I'm in the LPN program at Tulsa Technology Center and it looks like I will be able to finish in late February or early March, I want to take the boards sometime in March though.

After finishing that I am planning to go straight into TCC's LPN-RN program or possibly working a year and then doing OU's LPN-BSN or Langston's LPN-BSN if they have it up and running.

I'm single and looking (although not looking very hard because I don't have time for dating right now!), am 28 years old, and am quickly becoming the "crazy cat lady" because my cat is my baby. She's pictured in my avatar. If you guys have seen that commercial on TLC about "dating is hard, but so is becoming the crazy cat lady," that suits me to a T! I'm going to buy myself the figureine that they sell for it!

Who's next?????

Hi, I'm Fiona. I am going to the OU Accelerated program in May/June. I am doing all of my pre-reqs at TCC. I can't wait to get started at Nursing school. I took PCT this fall as I was unsure whether I wanted to go to TCCs nursing program or OU. But both schools made the decision easy for me. Got in one not the other :) But after my PCT nibble of nursing, I can't wait to get started. I plan to either get my NP or midwife certificate when I get finished with the BSN.

Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone! My name is Leah. I attended UCO for my BSN(go Bronchos!!!) and graduated in 2002. Prior to this, I was an LPN for 9 years. Currently, I work at INTEGRIS as Nurse Recruiter. I absolutely LOVE my job. I also work around 16-20 hours per month in the ER at SW Med Center to keep my skills current. I am getting married TOMORROW. I have two children...a son who is 19 and a daughter who is 17.

Nursing has been a great profession for me. My advice to all here is never forget why you became a nurse. This keeps you centered and focused to achieve wonderful things!

oh, and I failed to mention I received my LPN from Tulsa Tech in 1993. It was a great program.....it prepared me well for the "real-world" and made my RN school so do-able!

Welcome Shotnbum! And congrats on the wedding! I am a soon-to-be graduate of TulsaTech, and then doing the LPN-RN in the fall. Hope to see you around here a lot - but you can wait until after the honeymoon!!!! :monkeydance:

Hi! My name is Sergio, I have a wive and a kid, we live in Portland, Oregon, but my wife is from Norman, Ok. I am 31 and have a BS in General Science from Portland State University. It wasn't until I completed my degree that I decided to go into nursing. I wanted to go to one of the schools here, but my wife got homesick and we decided to move to Norman next Summer. I am applying to any school that would take me in. If all else fails, i will probably get an LPN and work my way from there, so... please wish me luck!

By the way, thanks to all of you for all your answers, you have been great!

See you soon!!!!

Hello Sergio,

You should apply to OU. They have an accerated BSN for those with a Bachelors in another field. The program is 11 months, start to finish with clinicals and all. Good luck wherever you go!

My name is Dana, I live in Chickasha and my first day of school is 1-4-2007.

I have always wanted to work in the medical field; worked a couple of years as an RT tech then worked many years at Delta Faucet before they chose to close the facility and move work to China, this was upsetting but I am considering it an opportunity as my tution will be paid as well as Unemployment benefits while in school. My intentions are LPN then RN if my brain is up to it...thus...expect a lot of advice seeking from me in the future.

We cant control the winds but we can adjust our sails!

Hi, I am Nepsys from Nepal and I visit your site often because my wife is going to start her BS->BSN program in OCU from today !!! I am a computer professional and currently working in Los Angeles and she is in Edmond...It is so nice to read all the posts that encourage and make you feel that there are people who care and love even though they don't know you.

I am bored, restless and sometime ponder if 'our decision' was the 'right one' (staying separate for 16 months and aways from kids...we have 2). But what keeps me going is the hope that when the whole thing is over...I will have a wife who is happy with her job. I hope all of you guys will find a way out of all the difficulties that you are currently facing.

Have a great and very successful new year 2007 !!

Hi there! Congratulations to your wife for starting her new adventure!! Wow, I can't imagine what a difficult decision that must have been for you two... Well, hopefully you will both be so busy that the time will fly by and it will be totally worth it in the end.

I'm starting my 2nd semester on Monday in the traditional BSN program at OCU and I'm really happy there - I hope that your wife will enjoy it there too.
