Hello,

I wanted to begin a KU thread for those who are:

Thinking about attending,

Planning to attend,

Your 'last' resort,

Your 'plan B' if 'plan A' doesn't work out,

Keeping your options open, while still waiting to hear from the less expensive school(s), and/or wanting to begin your Nursing journey/career right away despite the odds.

So,

When do you plan on taking the TEAS or have you taken it already?

Did you complete your general education requirements or in the process of completing them?

When do you plan to begin your core (Nursing courses) requirements?

Which campus are you seeking to attend?

Let's chat, share thoughts and ideas. Hope to hear from you all soon...Take care.

murse3000- Awesome! What campus are you attending? Did you take your pre-reqs at KU, if so, how are the classes and professors? I will be attending the Jacksonville campus. God willing I start my nursing core classes in Sept 2014.

I haven't taken the TEAS yet. My nursing counselor wants me to take it in November or December. I've already ordered the ATI study guide book and the McGraw-Hills TEAS practice tests. I intend to utilize the student workshop and the one-on-one tutoring. I want to be prepared as much as I possibly can. How did you do on yours?

I haven't started yet classes yet, but god willing I be starting classes in January after I pass the teas. I have the exact study guides as you plus the Kaplan guide as well. I've taken advantage of the one on one tutoring but not the student workshop.

So, when are you anticipating on taking the TEAS? We may be testing around the same time. How did you like the tutoring? Was it helpful?

Oct or Nov .... Tutoring was great and very helpful!

Have you completed your prerequises? If so, there are a few programs in the Jacksonville area and KU will be a bit less expensive. I know of Chamberlain College of Nursing. If not, KU general education courses run around $1900 per course.

Yes, KU is definitely up there in cost. However, I am fortunate that my husband, who is in the military, transferred his G.I. Bill benefits to me. My ASN education will be paid in full by that benefit. It wasn't really a matter of how much the school cost, but the quality of education that I'd receive. After much research and meeting with the admissions counselors, I felt confident that KU was the school for me.

Thank you for starting this thread! It's really nice to be able to get input from other KU students. :nurse:

Good luck to you in your nursing endeavours! :)

Good luck to u 2

I am looking into Keiser. I have called a couple schools like FAU and they have told me they do take credits from Keiser. From what I read online its no longer just one of those profit college with a degree that you cant transfer over. I do hear a lot of complaints about the cost. Anyone know how much the cost is? Im looking into the Ft. Lauderdale one. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to do a tour and get more info. I have looked into other community colleges and yea Keiser is more but you get to start much sooner.

It depends what you have already completed. If you completed your general education courses with a 3.0, then you would go straight into the nursing core which is about 3.5 semesters for $7700 per semester, along with additional school fees. If not, you will need to take the general education courses which is $1900 for each course plus the nursing core.

Thanks for the information .... Did or do you attend kesier ?

No I do not attend KU. I've just done research and attended a couple of different campus open houses. I also have placed KU last on my list if the other schools that I hope to attend doesn't work out. Basically, KU is by plan Z.

Specializes in OB.

Congrats! But I have a question. You start classes on 9/30 but you haven't taken the TEAS yet? How is that possible? Where I'm at, you must pass the TEAS before you're even accepted and are able to start any classes even pre-reqs. I thought all KU campuses worked the same way.
