Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Published

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

Hello! I have orientation and CPR in July and then start classes in August. So excited (and nervous)! Unfortunately, our scrubs and shoes are all white (ugh). Good luck to all of us!

Specializes in PCT, RN.

Me!

I start in August, as well.

We have orientation next month and I'm really excited!

I think I'm the only person not rushing time though. I'm enjoying having no school responsibilities at the moment :)

Me too. I'll admit I'm a little bored, but I'm also enjoying life. Beer, buddies, and Netflix!

You literally spoke my mind haha. I do get bored, I used to be able to spend a lot of time at work (I work in an office) doing homework/studying and now I have all this free time lol.

BUT, I am all about the beer, buddies, and Netflix! I neglected these things during my pre-reqs and will probably neglect them again during nursing school haha.

I wish I could be this laid back. I've been obsessing over supplies and everything else pertaining to nursing! Now that the new season of Orange is the New Black is on Netflix, I only obsess a few hours a day!

I don't have orientation until August :/ I'm very excited about starting the nursing program, and shockingly, not yet nervous. I was ridiculously nervous for my interview a couple of months ago...the Dean of Nursing seemed so intimidating, but turned out to be a really sweet person. As far as supplies go: look for them on Amazon.

Congrats on making it in, yourself :) 2017 will probably be here before we know it!

Have you gotten your school's supply list and if so have you started shopping yet?

I start my BSN in Sept :) I am enjoying the summer with no responsibilities and trying to go to every event I can lol. I know it's gonna be hard. I'm just nervous about being able to perform the clinical skills properly and confidently; the book stuff I will be ok with.

My school has yet to send out the supply list and I hope they do it soon! But we have an orientation in July and another one in Sept, a week before classes start on the 8th.

I am full time working now but will have to quit (no part time option) once school starts; I'm super nervous about that but my parents are letting me stay home with them for the next 2 yrs while I finish so I am soooooo grateful! I will be finding a part time job as soon as possible, though.

Still waiting to hear from scholarships . Praying some good money comes through.

I mean I definitely have a full cart in Amazon of things that I desperately want! But I am waiting until orientation to see what I'll actually need before pushing the purchase button :)

And ya know, I've never seen that show but everyone has been blowing up my Facebook about it. Makes me want to start watching!

I have so many shows though, Sons of Anarchy (although over now), The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones. There are just so many to choose from!

OMG my husband and I started watching the first season of Game of Thrones yesterday. We only had time to watch three episodes but I'm hooked already! I can't wait for him to get off so we can watch a few more! Oh and my Amazon cart is getting pretty full also, just waiting to hit that submit order button!

I'm starting the program in August, I'm pretty excited and nervous. I made one upperclassman nursing friend and she helped a lot. She sold 2 nursing books to me for under $20 (which I thought was generous of her). She also let me know which supplies/items I truly need for nursing school (some items are not required or used). I also learned from her what to expect from orientation and clinicals. I feel a less nervous then before. I think it's important to ask someone who went through the program.

I haven't gotten it yet, but I have been adding things to my Amazon wish list. I'm going to get a bundle package BP cuff/stethoscope for $20, even though I'm ordering a Littman from AllHeart. I figure I'll get vitals practice in, plus I'll carry the cheap steth during clinicals for people to borrow if needed (because there's no way I'm loaning out my Littman---I've read too many stories about them disappearing). I also found a cheap pulse ox and pen light. Bought a $10 daily planner from Target; it is *massive* and wonderful.

I also got a daily planner. I have been using it like crazy! I ordered lots of planner stickers also, these seem to help motivate me to utilize the planner.
