OHSU BSN 2016 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone! I am applying for OHSU BSN monmouth program this coming Fall for the 2016 school year! I would love to get a thread started :) It was so helpful last year! I will also be applying for Chemeketa this year.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

I interviewed and was accepted for the accelerated program. While I can't tell you the exact questions or prompts I would agree with the previous poster who mentioned studying the old essay questions ;)

If we answered all of the questions on nursing CAS, will we have to answer them again?

I think it's more or less to assess your oral communications skills -- they can see your written skills by your application, but I guess before they had the interview process a lot of students they accepted had really great written communications skills, but couldn't talk to people, which is a big problem when you're providing direct patient care!

gere7404 you've been incredibly helpful thank you so much!

Has anyone found out if the process will be a group interview, or individual? I got my letter in the mail today stating that my interview is 4/18/16 at 10 am at the Monmouth campus. Anyone else interviewing at this time? Also, it says that they expect the process to take about 2 hours. I'm assuming 1 hour for the interview, and 1 hour for the essay. We also have to answer 2 short essay questions and bring our answers with us to the interview. I think the questions were on NursingCAS already.

It's so weird how each campus does things so differently. You think they'd have a standardized manner of admissions since they're all satellites of the same institution.

Hope those who interviewed feel good about it!! (: I am getting super nervous now! One more week for me.

Margaret Baker posted this in a different threads below describing how the OHSU group interview was conducted -- for those of us who don't leave this thread I thought I'd cross post it because it seemed like really good information:

They split us up into groups of about 4 or 5 and we all sat on one side of the table while three interviewers sat across from us. In front of each of us were cards. We were given a set amount of time to read and answer the questions on the cards. When it was our turn we would read the card aloud and answer. No one had the same question but you might have an additional or follow up question dealing with the question or scenario of the person ahead of you.

Oh wow very interesting. I wonder if other campuses will be doing the same. Are we allowed to take a notebook and pen to take notes with? Thanks for posting that response! What thread is that from?

It came from her thread here: https://allnurses.com/oregon-nursing/invitation-to-interview-979942.html

I was wondering the same thing -- during the practice interviews, they recommended bringing a pen and paper, but didn't specifically say to or not to have things already written down on them.

So I had my interview on Friday... and I was so nervous I feel like I totally blew it. I'm more nervous now than before.

Try not to stress out! Why do you think you blew it? I'm worried that I am going to be so nervous that I won't know what to say.
