OHSU Accelerated BSN 2016

Published

Hello! Hopefully this is posted in the correct forum. I've been looking for months to see if anyone has started a thread about applying to OHSU's ABSN program for 2016, and couldn't find anything (just a thread for the traditional BSN). So I thought I'd start one!

I finished my Nursing CAS application in November, and just updated with my fall term grades last week. So now I'm anxiously awaiting contact!

A little about me and my app:

I come from a social science background, and have worked in the non-profit sector for the last 7 years. I'm a Portland native, and am currently working as a birth doula. I volunteer in a NICU, and I have a 17 month old son. My cumulative GPA is 3.96, and I still need to complete A&P III and Statistics (winter term) and Microbiology (spring term). I did ask OHSU if not having all the prerequisite complete at the time of application would affect my chances, and they said that it wouldn't (so hopefully that's the case!).

I'd love to hear from other applicants, so please feel free to post a little about yourself!

I also wanted to share some of the information I obtained about the waitlist. Last year, every single applicant put on the waitlist received an offer for the Ashland ABSN program. I was told that many of the students who were waitlisted did not complete their pre-requisites, and others declined their offer due to the cost of the program. Just wanted to give people a little hope in this stressful process!

Thanks OP for creating this thread. Judging by the comments, it looks like a very competitive applicant pool this year! A little about me, I'm a former Marine and UO grad with a BA in History and Political Science. Nursing CAS calculated my undergraduate GPA to be a 3.92 (no additional points for + grades), although I have a 4.0+ in my pre-requisites. I still need to complete a couple pre-requisites next term, but it sounds like that won't be a huge hindrance. I'm in interviewing group 3A this upcoming Friday for the Portland program, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. Good luck everyone!

Welcome to all the new posters! I'm getting so nervous/excited for the interview. Are you all planning on driving or taking transit to OHSU?

Transit. It's how I get around most days anyway, and I don't want to have to deal with the hassle or expense of parking.

Hi everyone!

I am an admit for the Accbacc -> FNP program (MEPN students have already been interviewed and admitted). Since we will all be starting with the Accbacc, I figured I would lurk on this thread :)

My stats are: double major in Political Science and Classics from Berkeley. UG GPA was 3.14, Prereq GPA is 4.0. I have been working in Silicon Valley for the last 6 years, have a fair amount of hospital volunteering under my belt. Crossing my fingers for all of you who are going into your interviews this week! I am sure you will crush it ! I hope to have the chance to meet some of you soon :)

Hi KayKay210! I'm an admit into the AccBacc to PMHNP program. I started a thread a little bit ago for the AccBacc cohort, but it's pretty quiet so far. Hopefully we'll meet more of each other as everyone wraps up interviews :)

Done, and Done! Had my interview and essay starting at 8AM today. I feel great about it. Now, waiting until April 15th to hear about the decision. We were told there were ~500 applicants, ~162 people selected for interviews, and 30 will be admitted for the Summer cohort, 32 to the Fall cohort. Good luck, all!
