Hello! Hopefully this is posted in the correct forum. I've been looking for months to see if anyone has started a thread about applying to OHSU's ABSN program for 2016, and couldn't find anything (just a thread for the traditional BSN). So I thought I'd start one!
I finished my Nursing CAS application in November, and just updated with my fall term grades last week. So now I'm anxiously awaiting contact!
A little about me and my app:
I come from a social science background, and have worked in the non-profit sector for the last 7 years. I'm a Portland native, and am currently working as a birth doula. I volunteer in a NICU, and I have a 17 month old son. My cumulative GPA is 3.96, and I still need to complete A&P III and Statistics (winter term) and Microbiology (spring term). I did ask OHSU if not having all the prerequisite complete at the time of application would affect my chances, and they said that it wouldn't (so hopefully that's the case!).
I'd love to hear from other applicants, so please feel free to post a little about yourself!
I've been seeing students added more recently to the general Facebook. I see some of them making comments that they were "just" accepted, so I'm pretty sure as some drop for various reasons the school moves down the waitlist. Sadly you just don't get to know where you are on the list. Good luck!
To those already accepted students...
Does anyone know if there have been more people added to the facebook page recently? Indicating movement of the waitlist. And if so, if those newly accepted have indicated where they were on the waitlist?
Thank you so much for any info you may have. I have called the school three times and they have continued to re-iterate that they are "unable" to tell current waitlisted students the status of the waitlist.
Thanks again.
Hi Oregon2424,
From what I can see most of us stick mainly to our individual cohort Facebook groups once accepted so it's a little more difficult to answer your question.
But I did try and do a run down of the members in the main group and from what found at least 15 were added in the last 1-3 weeks. We don't get added until we have returned our acceptance letter and deposit. This is for all the cohorts, but at this point the only adds should be to the fall 3 year or fall accbac.
One guy in particular just posted that he was just accepted into the Portland 3 year.
Hopefully this covers what you're looking for?
par2nurse,
Thank you so much for the response and taking the time to look, I really appreciate it. It sounds like there has been recent movement down the waitlist across the 2 fall cohorts (or more than 2 cohorts if locations in addition to Portland are included in this group).
I forgot to mention that I am waitlisted for the PDX Accelerated program. Do you know if those recently added from the waitlist to the PDX accelerated program were on the highly likely or moderately likely portion of the waitlist? I am on the moderately likely list and have not been contacted.
I hope I am not being too much of a pest in asking...
Thanks again. I appreciate any more info you may have.
I haven't seen anyone post anything about which waitlist they were on. Most in fact don't really talk about having been waitlisted as by that point they seem to just be excited to be in and there is a lot to then focus on with regards to compliance and getting getting ready for school. I'm sorry that isn't more helpful.
The degree type is Accelerated BSN for Non-Nurses (second baccalaureate degree).
The 2016/2017 application cycle for OHSU has not opened yet so you will not see it on NursingCAS lists of programs right now.
I can't remember when it opened last year... Maybe beginning of October? Likely after the start of the program this fall, end of sept., it will open.
Right now you can get program application info on their website.

I just forfeit my spot in the summer cohort (I was selected as a Providence Scholar for U of P and decided to go there). I contacted them last Friday, so hopefully they'll be moving someone off the waitlist ASAP.
