Hello! Hopefully this is posted in the correct forum. I've been looking for months to see if anyone has started a thread about applying to OHSU's ABSN program for 2016, and couldn't find anything (just a thread for the traditional BSN). So I thought I'd start one!
I finished my Nursing CAS application in November, and just updated with my fall term grades last week. So now I'm anxiously awaiting contact!
A little about me and my app:
I come from a social science background, and have worked in the non-profit sector for the last 7 years. I'm a Portland native, and am currently working as a birth doula. I volunteer in a NICU, and I have a 17 month old son. My cumulative GPA is 3.96, and I still need to complete A&P III and Statistics (winter term) and Microbiology (spring term). I did ask OHSU if not having all the prerequisite complete at the time of application would affect my chances, and they said that it wouldn't (so hopefully that's the case!).
I'd love to hear from other applicants, so please feel free to post a little about yourself!
OHSU has a larger group for all the incoming new nursing students, but (to my knowledge) I haven't seen any individual groups for the various cohorts/specialty areas. I got my acceptance email of Feb 16 and the email for the general facebook group a few weeks later, so keep an eye out for that email (I bet it will come sooner for y'all since the group is not up and running). I look forward to meeting the summer cohort soon! I'm going to go find the fb group now :)
What is the Fall Cohort FB group called, exactly? Couldn't find it with any of the obvious search terms I tried. Maybe it takes a while to show up in a search?
If you search "OHSU ABSN Fall cohort 2016-2017" it should show up. I might have done something wrong. I've never made a Facebook group.
When I created the summer one I found I had to add at least one member to make the group, so I added my son and then when I had the first request to join I added that member and deleted my son as a member. If you don't see your group listed under your own groups that you belong to, maybe try what I did, good luck!
I added myself into the group. It says the group was created
Do you see it under the list of groups you are a part of on your about page? I didn't find it when searching. My only guess is you are automatically a member when creating, and must have at least one other member. This was the first time I've created a group.
I wasn't able to find the summer cohort Facebook group... I only saw the 2015-2016 groups. Can someone post a link? Thanks!
Here's the link for the summer group, but I just read through my packet and it sounds like OHSU will start a group and invite us after we send our form & deposit back.
Hi everyone. Has anyone heard anything about movement for the the Ashland ABSN alternate list? It is so frustrating not having a clue about what is going on.
