I graduated last fall but didn't start looking for work until this spring so I could focus on my first few terms in my PMHNP program. After applying in March and going through all the hoops over the summer, I will start work next month with no paid nursing experience and no VA experience. So yes, it is definitely possible and the odds are probably much higher with so much VA experience under your belt.

OHSU has a larger group for all the incoming new nursing students, but (to my knowledge) I haven't seen any individual groups for the various cohorts/specialty areas. I got my acceptance email of Feb 16 and the email for the general facebook group a few weeks later, so keep an eye out for that email (I bet it will come sooner for y'all since the group is not up and running). I look forward to meeting the summer cohort soon! I'm going to go find the fb group now :)

Congrats abotner! You should be getting an email soon that will connect you with the new nursing applicants group- it's a little slow, but I imagine will be busier soon with the new ABN admits and you'll find more there soon. And I'll be meeting you this summer í ½í¸Š

Congrats on being accepted! You're going to love Portland- it's such a fantastic city (I may be biased lol). I was told the ABSN to PMHNP was going to take 10 after interviewing 22. Not sure how many applied, but I know I was sweating bullets waiting to hear back!

Hello! I didn't see a thread for the upcoming AccBacc cohort yet (if there is one, please point me in the right direction!), so figured I would start one and see if there's anyone else out there lurking like I am! As the other AccBacc applicants are interviewing, please feel free to drop in- I'm looking forward to meeting some future classmates! About me: B.S. in Psych and Communication, M.A. in Counseling Psych, full time mom to two little girls who decided this past fall to pursue the PMHNP/DNP dream that started when I was finishing my internship during grad school. To say that I'm excited to get started this summer would be an understatement!
