OHSU ABSN 2021

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else is applying for the ABSN at OHSU for 2021? I just submit my application for the Ashland campus and would love to connect with other people who are applying! I'm feeling pretty nervous about how competitive the program is ?

For those who are preparing for the ABS-DNP interview, how are you guys preparing for it? Any suggestions/recommendations? I'm just looking up on common nursing school interview questions right now to get an idea, not sure how this year's interview goes. 

Has anyone had their interview already?

So I had my interview last year. They asked me basic questions about if I understood the role of NPs and if I was aware of the programs time commitment. They didn’t ask me anything that I wasn’t prepared for.

Oh great! So basically things related to our application, nothing like situational questions ("If you encounter xxx in your work, what would you do")?

They actually didn’t ask me anything situational or anything about my application. In fact, I kept using things from my application in my answers and it felt pretty forced. I think they really want to genuinely know YOU and see if you’ll make a good fit for the program.

OMG what?????? I kinda hate that LOL I’m soooo tired of writing essays after this application season hahaha (well assuming I even get an “interview”)

Was just going to post that! It's surprising to me because from what I've gathered from previous applicants, the interview questions don't stray too far from the essay prompts.

I, for one, love writing essays because it forces me to reflect on my experiences in a way I might not have otherwise (for what it's worth, I'm not too burned out on them either because I only applied to OHSU). But I don't see the point of this if it's going to just be a rehash of the existing essay questions.

I sent an email asking about the interview format for the Portland campus- sounds like it will take them a bit longer to let people know now?

Wowowww this is kind of wild. Anyone remember how many applicants to the Portland program on average? IIRC, they accept 32 per cohort for Fall/Winter and 24 for Spring or something like that...
