OHSU ABSN 2021

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else is applying for the ABSN at OHSU for 2021? I just submit my application for the Ashland campus and would love to connect with other people who are applying! I'm feeling pretty nervous about how competitive the program is ?

Hi! I'm also planning to apply for the Ashland campus since tbh it seems a lot easier to get into than the Portland campus. I'm still working on my supplemental questions but I heard they're not rolling admissions so not rushing it.

I am planning to apply for the Summer cohort in Ashland as well. I am a little worried because of how competitive it is and mostly concerned about the supplemental questions as I don't have very much volunteering experience. I was planning to volunteer more this year but then covid put a damper on those plans ?

Yeah I definitely am nervous about how competitive it is. I thought Ashland would be less competitive but the stats are similar to the program in Portland since they have 3 cohorts. I also feel like I lost out on healthcare experience due to Covid but it seems like they have a pretty holistic application process so I’m hoping my essays showed how my other experiences relate to nursing! I guess all there is to do now is be hopeful!

COVID also affected my volunteering plans but I also hope my responses to the supplemental questions would help. I also wonder how many people apply for each term at Portland as you can only apply for one term which might affect the competitiveness.

I believe you have the option to indicate that you would like to be considered for terms other than the one you applied for. My understanding  was that they offer admission to the best candidates and then try to fit people into their preferred term as best as possible. I could be wrong though!

I had a question on the application on nursingcas, under the prerequisites tab where we match the prequisite courses- for in progress courses do you guys know if we just leave it blank?

I matched the courses I had in progress and the one I have planned for the Spring term, it just doesn’t list a grade since they’re not complete. I think you can update it when this term finishes

Ahh I feel that!! I'm still mulling over my essay responses and debating if I want to risk it and try for portland. Sigh.
