Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else is applying for the ABSN at OHSU for 2021? I just submit my application for the Ashland campus and would love to connect with other people who are applying! I'm feeling pretty nervous about how competitive the program is ?

I've just submitted my applications for Portland's ABSN (Fall) and Portland's ABSN->DFNP program (Summer). Last year I applied to the ABSN->DFNP program and ended up on the waiting list but unfortunately was not admitted. Similar to @Le_Chatlier above, they were not very helpful with my post-application interview; they told me I was a very competitive applicant and there wasn't really anything I could have done differently. My fingers are crossed that the second time's the charm AND I'm also applying to the ABSN without the DFNP just to hedge my bets a little. You can bet that I'm kicking myself for not applying to both last year! Although I'm not sure being in nursing school in the pandemic would have been all that fun...

I'm a career-changer and did my undergrad way back in 2006-2010 so I submitted a waiver for both stats and genetics with last year's application. My waiver was granted last year so I hope they come to the same conclusion again because it's been a whole year more gone by since I took those classes ?

I haven't made it to any of the info sessions this year, and I'm a little curious how things may go differently this year with COVID-19. Has anyone heard? I am assuming interviews will be virtual and sometime in March? Thanks for the info on the interview format last year above!

Anyone apply to the Winter cohort in Portland? I summitted my app a couple weeks back and was biting my nails until my transcripts were received. Anyone else have issues getting transcripts due to COVID staffing at the schools. One of mine took 6 weeks to get in yikes! Anyone have their app already verified and have a time estimate for how long it took? I know they say 2 weeks, just wondering if anyone has current info... the stress never ends ?

Yeah, mine wasn’t approved either. Ugh! Dang!

Once my transcripts were entered and I verified them, it only took a couple of days for it to be verified. I hope they are just as fast with your app! I totally understand the stress LOL!

Did Nursing CAS give you any indication when they started the verification on your application? Or was it just boom! its verified?

They did not give me any indication that they had started the process. It was just boom and it was done!

Did anyone else take any prereqs this fall semester? I'm getting a bit worried because I am still waiting on my grades to be posted and then it has to be verified by NursingCAS again, so it probably won't be sent to OHSU until after the deadline to submit. Is anyone else in the same situation?

I had the same situation. I ordered my transcripts mid-November to be released when grades were posted. As of last week, they still haven't released. Grades were delayed at the school due to staffing around COVID and the holidays. I ended up just sending in a new transcript and hoping the grades were on there. At least if you have a transcript in there showing the classes in progress, your application will be complete.

Hi all, 

I just applied for the ABSN-DNP-FNP program and got an email saying that it will take up to 2 weeks to verify the application and only then will it be sent to OHSU. I am worried that my application will be considered late, anyone else in that boat? I didn't realize I needed to submit my application 2 weeks prior to the deadline...

Mine only took 2 days to be verified in NursingCAS. I think they say two weeks just to be safe, but for me, it was much faster. Hope that's the same for you! I'd expect an email from OHSU admissions clarifying your situation soon. I got an email from them as soon as I verified wanting the last transcript and reference letter that were still en route.

Hey Harriet,

I can't tell you exactly what happens on the OHSU side for applications verified after the deadline, but I had a similar situation. I was having a beast of a time getting transcripts to be sent from a couple schools, took them 6+weeks. Anyway, I contacted OHSU and they told me that as long as I submitted by the deadline and the application was complete, they give 2 weeks for verification after the deadline. So it sounds like you should be good. Once all my transcripts were in and my application was complete, it only took 3-4 days for verification. 

One last tip, watch your email like a hawk. If there are things that NursingCAS needs you to fix, they will send it in an email. Mind you, they probably won't tell you how to fix it. Example, they said I didn't report a school I never went to, so I had to contact that school and they were nice enough to rush a letter saying they had no record of me ever having attended. Also, I'm still fighting to have some of my grades counted into my GPA. But my application is complete and verified. Nursing CAS in itself is an adventure.

Hi all, I just submitted my app for the ABSN to PMHNP program last night and am stressing about being verified in time. Admissions told me they’d wait for 2 weeks post-deadline for apps to get verified by NursingCAS but I’m a stress case ? saw some of you say that it took less than 2 weeks. Can anyone else attest to that and soothe my anxiety? LOL
