Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone else is applying for the ABSN at OHSU for 2021? I just submit my application for the Ashland campus and would love to connect with other people who are applying! I'm feeling pretty nervous about how competitive the program is ?

So many people applying to Ashland! I felt the same way when I was finishing mine, I was convinced I would find a typo as soon as I submitted but I feel a little better now that it’s over with ?

I know! I'm kind of shocked to see so many Ashland applicants right off the bat!

I think I'm going to proofread them a few more times and stress over it for a couple more days honestly haha. I got my bachelor's in education and design, I worked in early childhood education. You?
Hi, all!
I am applying for 2021 at the Ashland campus.
For those wondering about the level of competition, both are very competitive. I was waitlisted as "highly likely" for 2020 (I was one of 10+, evidently), but ultimately didn't make the cut. I consulted with admissions on what I could do to improve my chances and all they could tell me was that I was a very competitive applicant, but that they only have so many spots available. ?♀️ Hopefully, the second time's a charm. ?
If anyone's curious about last year's process, I'd be happy to share!

I am definitely interested in knowing more about the process! Thank you for offering to share. ?

Oh no, definitely not what I wanted to hear! I’m worried because I’ll still have one prerequisite in progress in the Spring and I feel like that could impact my application. Hopefully the second time works out for you!
How was the interview process with covid? I’m assuming everything was online but what was the format like?
Did anyone have to fill out a time limit waiver request form? If so, how long did it take to get a decision? What class was it and when did you take it? Sorry, I’m just curious because I had to do one and I’m freaking out that it might not be approved. I am so stupid and didn’t even look at that time limit form. So... I hope I’ll get lucky and get it approved!

Sorry for the delay. I responded last week, but evidently it never posted. ?
Besides switching to virtual, the interview was much the same as previous years. Applicants are divided into groups and interview times are scheduled over the course of a 3 hour period. There's a written essay that you have one hour to complete. The actual interview is about 20 minutes and the questions are similar to those in the application. After interviews are complete, there's a brief Q&A with a panel of members from the current cohort.
The switch to virtual was announced just a few days before the first round of interviews, so the process seemed a little rushed and disorganized. I imagine they've addressed this since then, having had a years to adapt to a virtual model.
@Le_Chatlier Hi! I am super interested in learning more about your experience in the application cycle and process last year. What volunteering, work, and shadowing experiences do you think make a strong application?
I'm planning to apply for next year's cycle for the Accelerated BSN to pediatric DNP program! I hope this application cycle works out for you! Fingers crossed!!

I filled one out and submitted one for Stats. I believe the year I took it was just a year over the time limit so I thought I would just try for it. Unfortunately the waiver wasn't approved, I think I heard back within a week or week and a half but it was earlier on maybe back in September-ish
