OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! Is anyone an applicant for the ABSN program for the 2019-2020 cohort for OHSU? It's such a competitive program and I'd love to share insights and chat with anyone else going for it this year. As you might be able to tell, I'm applying for the nurse-midwifery program. My stats aren't that great but I'm going to cross my fingers and hopefully learn from the experience ?

Hi all,

Long-time listener, first-time caller. I applied to the Ashland ABSN program and have not heard anything yet either. Still trying to stay hopeful for another week or so.

So I just but the bullet and called the admissions office and the interview invites for Ashland ABSN haven't gone out yet! They won't go out until next week or the week after so there's still hope! I hope we all get interviews : )

YAY for hope! Thanks so much for checking on that, @eastcoasttowestcoast. It doesn't mean I'll get in, but I'm so glad to know that I still have a chance.

I applied to ten schools, but OHSU is my first choice.

There's definitely still a chance! What other 9 schools did you apply to? I only applied to 3 this year so we'll see how it goes - feeling fairly good about my application so fingers crossed!

Hi everyone! I'm a bit late to the game but I'm so happy to find this thread and meet some folks who are also on this exciting path!

I got the email yesterday that I got an interview for the Portland program on Feb 28 - group 2A, starting at 9:30am. I read the email at work and immediately signed out of my computer and basically ran outside to freak out. I definitely didn't expect to get this interview - my undergrad GPA was 3.78 and my prerequisite one wasn't super competitive either - but I think my work/life experiences and essays did the trick. To others who were offered an interview, how are you feeling? Hope to meet you eventually : )

@Gretchennnn I also am in group 2A and a bit later to the game in this thread than you were ;) Excited to meet you!!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad to have found this thread. I applied to the OHSU ABSN Portland campus and received an interview last week! I am in group 2A on March 1st at 9:30 AM. Is anyone else in this group? I am so looking forward to interviewing and meeting people there! I'm sure we will all do great.

Hey there! I am also in group 2A!! Glad to find an interview buddy ?

Thank you. Good luck to you, as well. Honestly, had I known this was the caliber of applicants applying for the ABSN-to-DNP/FNP track, I wouldn't have bothered, lol! I couldn't find anything on OHSU's SoN page regarding the average stats of those seeking this track, and the eligibility requirements were the same as the ABSN, so I never expected that some may already be so well-accomplished in their field. Guess I have some work to do.

I think your stats are good and you're well rounded, I would be surprised if you were unable to get into a program. I visited Linfield and they seem to have a strong program and they admit something like 60% of applicants, but their deadline for summer start this year has passed. Concordia in Portland I think has 3 different admissions during the year and I've also heard good things about their program. Cheaper ABSN programs exist in Texas and Arkansas. Even UMiami I think had $50k out of state tuition and their program was only 12 months. And there are other options for going the NP route, I think Samuel Merritt in Sacramento has a direct entry NP for FNP if you have pathophysiology and some other prereqs that I did not have. Azusa in southern CA has a 2+2 program for FNP (1st two years are getting the BSN and the second two are for the NP). Don't give up!

Does anyone have any idea what percentage of applicants interviewed get accepted? Or how many people got interviews? Asking about Portland ABSN

I got an email for an interview for Ashland ABSN! March 16th from 12pm-4pm!

I'll be in that interview, too!

Anyone know how many applicants are interviewed and how many are usually accepted for Ashland?
