Hey all!
Now that the application deadline has passed, I feel comfortable finally starting a post. Just curious to hear who else applied to this program. It's fascinating to me to hear about people's different experiences, stats, expectations, etc. I'm also wondering what other programs people might've applied to? I got my submission in for the Portland ABSN to FNP/DNP program as well.
Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perspectives.
My interview was Friday and our group had asked a lot of questions that I hope will shed some light. We were informed that they would be better us know within 3 weeks at the latest but they said probably within two weeks. In terms of looking at applicants, they are looking at everyone as a whole. So everything from before the interview along with the interview and the essay. They will pick the best out of the best of the applicants REGARDLESS of preference to Summer or Fall. They said they look at that after they pick you and then try and place you the best they can.
Hope that makes sense!

Knowing this is still a holistic thing makes a lot of sense and makes me feel better. I guess I still just wonder what gives us an advantage from the original application - our GPA? I knew the preference didn't effect things, thankfully. Man, it's going to be a long time waiting until next week or the week after...
I wonder how much they weigh cumulative GPA versus prerequisite GPA. My stats: I'm on the lower end of the average GPAs accepted. 3.63 cumulative and 4.0 in prerequisites. I have years of experience providing direct service to underserved groups but not in a medical capacity. I've worked with low income seniors, at risk youth, homeless vets, refugees, and adults struggling with mental illness. I also plan to work in a rural area of Oregon after graduation. I hope these experiences help me a lot since my GPA suffered from some bad grades in art history 10 years ago! haha

That's what I've been wondering too. Wow, we have a lot in common in general though. NursingCAS put me at 3.81 cumulative and I have a 4.0 in pre-reqs but am in the middle of A&P II and Nutrition right now (expect to get As, but who really knows?), and will have A&P III and micro in spring. I work at a public health clinic that serves those who are uninsured, low-income, experiencing homelessness, part of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and non-English speakers and have done so for a long time, but I'm not technically a medical provider (in an admin/resource type position). I also hope to work in a rural community of Oregon. Super cool to meet someone so similar. When did you interview? And any preference on cohort?

That's awesome! Do you work in Portland? I'm sure our organizations had a partnership if so. I was in affordable housing there but my husband and I moved out to eastern Oregon for his job a year ago. We're going to make the distance thing work if I go to school in Portland. I also applied to OHSU in La Grande for the 3 year degree and PCC, but the ABSN is my ideal program. I was accepted to an ABSN program in Boston where my folks live but that distance would be very difficult. Did you apply to other programs?
I interviewed on March 2 at 8 AM. I am hoping for the fall cohort although I would enroll in either. How about you?

I do work in Portland, for Multnomah County. I'm a native, my dad worked at OHSU when I was a kid, all that jazz so getting in there would be a dream come true. I can DEFINITELY understand why the ABSN is your ideal program but being in the BSN over near your husband would likely have its perks too. I unfortunately didn't apply to any other programs - all of them in Portland either required a CNA license or finished pre-reqs, and since they're all like twice as much as OHSU, I figured I'd just wait it out. I've been talking to admissions from Concordia in case I don't get in, since they have three start dates a year, but I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on it. Their BSN is established but their ABSN program is brand new so I have no idea what people's experiences have been like. If I don't get in, I have to decide between applying there to hopefully start earlier or sucking it up, waiting another year for OHSU, Linfield, UP, Walla Walla, etc., and probably finding a job/moving to Salem to be with my partner while he finishes up law school.
I interviewed 2:30 on the 1st. I'd obviously take either and originally put summer on my application, but I'm having a lot of second thoughts about that. They said to email admissions if you have a preference and I'm tempted to do so and tell them fall, but I haven't made any decisions yet.

We're even more similar! My husband went to law school in Portland. He's a public defender. If your partner is interested in public defense, let me know. í ½í¸Š
Those are all great schools. I thought about applying to Linfield but the price deterred me. Although now I've heard they give a lot of scholarship money so I think knowing that I would have applied. I hope you get into OHSU so you don't have to go through the application process all over next year. It's tiring.
My guess is we hear next week since last year they heard on March 15. So soon! Hopefully we all have good news.

What a wild world! That's just too funny. I assume your husband went to Lewis and Clark? Partner somehow managed to score a nice summer associate position in the Pearl doing real estate/land use work but if something changes, I'll hit you up.
I heard the same thing about Linfield - multiple people actually told me it turned out to be cheaper than OHSU for them after all the scholarship money. I'm really praying I don't have to apply again too, but trying not to have any expectations. Is this your first time applying?
I'm guessing next week too but still praying somehow they decide to go for it today. It's partner's birthday, so maybe I'll get a random birthday present hah? I want to ask OHSU about an updated timeline so badly but also don't want to bug them.

He did go to L & C. I'm guessing Willamette for your partner? I love that campus. My husband worked in Salem for two years and I would at times meet him down there and walk around the campus. The coffee shop is amazing and cheap!
This is my first time applying to OHSU. Last year I applied to PCC and got in but since we were moving out to Pendleton I decided the timing wasn't the greatest. I wish I could have applied to both accelerated programs at OHSU. Ashland would be a great place to live for 16 months.
Thank you for calling the school about the admissions timeline. I'll be checking my email like crazy the next few weekdays! Fingers crossed!

Both glad (for solidarity's sake) and irritated that other people felt the same about the questions. I felt like I really wasn't able to give them much info about me because of it, which bugs me, but it's over now. I was in the 5C group at 2:30 pm on March 1st, last group of the day I believe. Did they give your group any specifics on when they'd be notifying you? Their answer was not straightforward at all for us in that regard, so I'm hoping someone else got a better one. No pressure on this front, but if you don't mind me asking, what are your stats like coming in? And did you specify a summer or fall preference?
