Hey all!
Now that the application deadline has passed, I feel comfortable finally starting a post. Just curious to hear who else applied to this program. It's fascinating to me to hear about people's different experiences, stats, expectations, etc. I'm also wondering what other programs people might've applied to? I got my submission in for the Portland ABSN to FNP/DNP program as well.
Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perspectives.
I just saw the email that attire is business casual. So no suit jacket? I was thinking of wearing a business skirt/jacket combo but now I'm wondering if I should just do a business skirt and blouse. I may bring my jacket just in case. :)
I'd pretty firmly decided on no suit/jacket, but it is nice to know they're thinking business casual. If you're bringing a bag or feel comfortably holding onto the jacket if you decide not to wear it, I think you're set! Still trying to make a decision but I'm thinking probably a conservative dress (like a plain black shift dress), a cardigan, some hosiery, and some kind of dress shoes. Haha I don't know if that's too out there though as that's what was recommended to me by the main person I know who does interview things of this sort and dresses like this, but she's also a lawyer so...
Is anyone planning on bringing a pen and notepad to take things down, or skipping it? I've heard both ways but seems like it could be beneficial.
Hey, just found this thread and read through it! I have my interview Thursday morning and am SO nervous! I was thinking the same thing for clothing. Or even black slacks and a nice blouse with a pair of flats. Since we can do a "self-guided tour" afterwards I want to make sure I'm wearing somewhat comfortable shoes.
I'm going to definitely bring a pen/notepad. I read that it might be easier to jot down some thoughts during the interview process so your mind is a bit more organized.
Does anyone have any idea what this proctored essay is going to be like? This entire interview process seems so odd to me!

I've heard the same thing about the notepad. That and it apparently helps you not fidget if you're someone who does that. I have no idea for certain but I've heard rumors that the proctored essays are fairly similar to some of the essay prompts used for the direct entry MSN/DNP applications. Overall, I think all they're really concerned about is our ability to write correctly and to answer the question.
I'm never nervous for job interviews or anything like that but I am like losing my mind over this. The fact I have a gigantic Anatomy and Phys test tonight and then two more A&P lab quizzes tomorrow is probably not helping.

Do you happen to know the essay prompts for direct entry MSN/DNP? That would be good to review. I heard to also review the stuff you wrote for our essays we had to submit. I think they want consistent answers.
I just saw the email about business casual but I was thinking of wearing a white blouse with a blazer, black slacks and flats. I always thought that was business casual but maybe I'm wrong?!
At this point I feel like I laid it all out on the table and there's nothing more I can do but wait! It was crazy intense though and I'm just glad it's over with. I will say I was EXTREMELY impressed with everyone's intellect, experience and compassion. You guys would all make amazing nurses, good luck!!

I definitely second this feeling. I have to say I wasn't overly thrilled with the interview system and thought (at least in my group) there was a pretty poor distribution of questions in terms of people being able to share an abundance of info about themselves/their character. That being said I felt as good as I think I can about my essay and we're our own worst critics so I'm sure my interview wasn't as bad as I'm imagining. When did you interview?
I feel the same way about everyone I met! I think I did well on the essay and most of the interview. Unfortunately, I was the first person of my group to be asked a question and it wasn't a question I had thought of before so my answer was rushed and a little disjointed. I hope they take that into account. I was way more confident after the first!

I interviewed March 1st during the 8am. I was in the 1b group. I definitely agree about the distribution of questions, but like you said we're all our own worst critics! When did you interview?
