OHSU ABSN 2018-2019

Published

Hey all!

Now that the application deadline has passed, I feel comfortable finally starting a post. Just curious to hear who else applied to this program. It's fascinating to me to hear about people's different experiences, stats, expectations, etc. I'm also wondering what other programs people might've applied to? I got my submission in for the Portland ABSN to FNP/DNP program as well.

Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perspectives.

Where did you get these stats from, out of curiosity? I've been trying to remember them for my informational all day and have not been able to for the life of me. Only thing I'm confused about/not sure is correct here is the 64 people - didn't they have 32 Portland spots and 32 Ashland spots, not 64 total in Portland? I'd obviously like it better if there were 64 in Portland, but I didn't think it was that high.

I think there are ~30 spots in the summer cohort and ~30 in the fall cohort so those all add up to be that total of 64!

Now that I think about it, this sounds about right. Well, that makes me feel slightly better. 64 chances in 135 is way better than 32. I mean, obviously we had to put down a preference for which start we'd get but I'm pretty sure they'll admit the top 64 choices and just work people into slots as best as they can.

I feel like I asked them on the phone at one point if putting fall start vs summer start would affect my chances of getting in and they said no. So it sounds like they just pick the 64 they like and then try to match those people with their preference.

I think that's right from what I very vaguely remember from my September info session. Such a relief to have numbers, holy cow. Those odds are so much better than 32 people out of 700 applicants (5%) someone mentioned to me awhile back.

Those odds are good if we get into the interviews!

Sending good vibes to everyone. My phone might blow up from the refreshing!

Got my email too!! March 1st. Super excited but nervous all over again!

@Jeb726 did you just get the email or did you get it around 11:30? I'm wondering if they have been gradually sending them out throughout the day or if they just did them all at once.

Oh looks like it was around 11:30. I was trying not to check my email all day until I got home which is when I saw I got it! Good luck!

For those who have received interview invitations, are they Portland or Ashland?
