Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
I took the test. Not sure if every instructor offers the test out option for this class. My instructor Bryant emailed us prior to class starting and told us if we wanted to test out to study ANY assessment book. I had actually purchased the assigned book prior to learning about the test out option, so I studied from that book. You have 3 days to take test once class starts. 75 or better is needed. The test is hard especially for those of us that work in sPecialized areas. My suggestion would be to act like you are studying for the nclex.
I am now 8 weeks into the summer quarter and my fees have still not been payed from my financial aid. I was told everything is all good from my end, but they are still behind due to the program change. Everytime I call a different person tells me something different than the one before. I think I am being punked cause this cannot be normal
I went to a another online program, actually 2 classes at 2 different place..my financial aide was never used until the semester was over. So I think you may find that it will all catch up eventually. Any place I ever spoke to says the colleges front the money because Financial aide can not be paid out till a certain point.
I am speaking in general have no specific knowledge of OU..just thinking they must have similar issues. :)
Thank you deltaroxxy2! I have signed up for 2 classes following the completion of NRSE 300...I'm thinking that might be too much...
Besides NRSE 300 and testing out of Health Appraisal, I have always taken 2 classes. It's doable. Just have to be organized and not wait til the last minute to get stuff done.
If you test out of health appraisal, do you have the option of taking the class if you are not pleased with your grade on the challenge exam? I would rather take the class and get an A than test out and get a C.

Yep...You can still take the class. I totally felt the same way until I got the syllabus for statics. Then I was TOTALLY happy with my B-(got an 80 on the test)...LOL

Just wait until you see the syllabus for dynamics (sorry - attempt at mechanical engineering humor) . .
I read somewhere that starting this fall, there is an OU Jr. comp class that is nursing based. Didn't look for it yet, doing comp in the spring.
Where did you read that? That would be a better option than business comp. I know enrollment for Fall (is either over or wraps up soon), and it's not offered for the academic outreach students. The only type of junior level English offered is Bus Comp. I enrolled in it when Fall enrollment first opened up. It's a 10wk class.
