Ohio State Master's Entry Summer 2016

Hello! Has anyone out there applied to the Entry Master's Program at Ohio State for the Summer 2016 start?

@Toothless there are some of us getting together Saturday at 1 PM at the Pint House for lunch and drinks if you want to join!

@Ricklesworth and @Astriker you are invited as well! I would love to get to know everyone!

@Astriker: Columbia? Dang! That's awesome! Is OSU your first choice though? I thought about applying to the Columbia program but I figured there was no way I would get in :p

Astriker- Congrats on Columbia. If I would have known about that program I would have definitely applied especially since Ill probably end up having to get my DNP anyways!

Hey guys!

Thank you for the positive words and encouragement. The wait is very challenging! If (MAJOR IF) I am offered admission to both programs, it is going to be a tough choice to say the least. I am very impressed by both Columbia and OSU in many ways. To be honest, finances factor in quite heavily. I'm excited to get the admission wait over with so I can begin the financial aid/scholarship/fellowship wait! Fingers crossed, we'll all hear back soon on both fronts.

For folks who are curious, the degree path is somewhat different: OSU is the MSN (3 years) and Columbia is the MDE/DNP (total of ~4.5 years, it seems). The DNP typically takes two years full-time and three part-time, so if one obtained an MSN from OSU and did have to/want to work toward a DNP, the time frame is not terribly different. Advantages and disadvantages to both, naturally. It's hard to know the "right" path when the field is constantly changing.

@HungryStudent: You could definitely get in. You're a PMHNP rock star. I just know it!

I certainly hope to report back with awesome news very soon...and to hear positive outcomes for everyone on this forum. I am really thankful for the solidarity and support on here. Truly.

Summer semester starts May 11. I am assuming that to be our start time as well.

Someone called and they said due to the restructuring of summer semester it will either be on 6/7 or 6/21, as of right now it is still TBD.

Also orientation is May 19th and/or 20th. It could be both days, they haven't decided on that either

@ Kankan, you should take a look at the FB group for accepted students--someone talked to an adviser last week and to the best of my recollection they had not settled on a date for the state of our semester. Hoping it starts later than sooner so I can save more...ack!

actually those of us who have called found out orientation is May 19 or 20 and they do not know when school will start but it will be either June 7 or June 21 and we will know in March when our advisors contact us.

Start date is supposed to be either June 7th or June 21st. They haven't decided yet, I guess they're doing some restructuring of the semester. We should know for sure in March.
