You are reading page 2 of OH NO! the A & P classes are FULL!

Check neighboring schools also...tuition will be a bit higher if in a different county, but atleast you'll get the class.

This is so true especially if you are trying to get classes at a CC in a large city. I took my Chemistry is another state. The drive wasn't that much longer considering that I would have had to pay big time parking in downtown Philadelphia versus a CC in the NJ suburbs (free parking). Also, my tuition was actually cheaper, even out-of state. At the time, the Philadelphia CC was $115/credit (for a Philadelphia resident, which I am) and the NJ CC was $85/credit (out-of-county & out-of state).

My physiology instructor said he was once aware that the class was filled in less than 10 minutes after registration began. Just as fast as the computer could handle the registration requests, the spots went. The only thing one can do is to be patient or make the decision to take an online course somewhere and have it transferred in.

Just call some professors and explain your position. So many people drop out those first few weeks that the classes won't stay full for long.

Okay, I was in this same cituation and here is your best way to get into the class.

Find out the due date for payment of that semster and then be on the computer the very second your schools website opens up the next morning. At my school, the people who register for classes are required to pay by a certain day and if they don't (either because they forgot or decided they didn't want to take the class) there spot in the class is forfited (sp) and is open for whoever gets to it first. I missed out on A&P 2 and freaked, but I woke up eairly the day after the payment due date and found a class! But you have to be quick in grabing the classes. When I checked their were about 10 open A&P classes and by the time I decided which one I wanted and clicked on it, their were only 3 left and 5 mins later they were all gone.

So this may be your best option!

morningland and everyone else,

Thank you so much for all your advice. morningland, I think thats an excellent way to get in the class, however, as a 'new student' and one who has not attended there before, I am not given the privelege of registering online. 'New Students' are told they have to register in person sooo I feel like I SOL!

No, you still may be okay. Your best bet may be to be at that registration office the very second they open up and I mean be the first person in line, So i would maybe even come there an hour eairly like your waiting for some concert tickets or something! That is so unfair that you can't use their website. I don't agree with the whole priority system, even when it benifited me. I think classes should be first come first served. I understand the logic behind it but why should you be held back simply because you have less credits... I think it's unfair and unrealistic. Because if you wer able to use the website you could just constantly check up on it and have a great shot finding your class.

Wow. I can't believe its that bad to get into A&P, where are you from? Its so easy to register here in MI, there are classes left up until the last day of registration, and ppl are always dropping

Yeah, I am from MI as well, and there are tons of A & P classes a semester, and plenty of room.

Anyways, to the OP- GooD LuCK! Hope you find a spot.

Be on the ball next time - be ready to register the day registration opens. Another thing that works very well is to look for classes the day after tuition is due. Lots of students forget to, or cannot, pay for classes and lots of seats open up.

I called the professor and he said he doesnt have the authority to override but that adding me into the a&p lecture shouldnt be a big deal BUT if its the LAB thats full there is nothing ANYONE could do bc one those seats are full, theyre full and they cant add one extra person bc they wouldnt be in compliance with the fire department regulations.

All the labs are full now and I cant even register for 2 more weeks anyway...my only hope at this point is to wait for the tuition due date and see if anyone drops but even then the 'current students' get a 2 HOUR head start on that bc they can access it online at 7am..Bc Im not a current student, I have to wait until the school opens at 9am and I have to do it in person! I think thats sooooo unfair.

I can understand the prof not being able to add you to the lab. We have wait lists at our CC and they are required to attend class the first week because most times people will drop. Unfortunately it makes for a crowded lab for the first week or so.

See if you can sit in the back and observe. Even if you have to register in person, see if you can get on a wait list. Its very possible that people will drop before the semester started. I was 18 on a Micobiology list and still got in. Good luck!
